I have been playing phone tag with Ray Emery since Monday in two, different cities, but we finally had a one-on-one interview today on CSNPhilly.com.
I touched on several areas not covered in yesterday's presser in Philly.
We talked about anger management, him being an African-Canadian, the rumors of his drug usage, the awful conditions in parts of Russia, etc.
I was supposed to do this interview yesterday but Emery was delayed 2 1/2 hours leaving Philly back to Ottawa. He called too late at the bar and that's not where you interviews, so we re-sked for today.
Was Ray Emery a convenient target in Ottawa because of his behavior or lifestyle?
TP: Looking back on Ottawa, do you feel you made yourself a target? Or did people target you because you were different?
"I was the toast of the town because I was different, for a while something a little different," he told me. "When things started to go bad, it was easier to throw me down that much quicker because I was different in a lot of ways. It was a good thing when it started and then it got that much worse when things turned negative, I think."
