The Columbus Blue Jackets have finally chosen their next captain.
The lucky guy is Nick Foligno, who will be the first Blue Jacket to dawn the "C" since Rick Nash was traded during the off-season in 2012.
It is hardly a surprise that Foligno is the team's choice.
Not only is he a fan favorite and regarded highly by his teammates (just ask Sergei Bobrovsky) but he is signed through the 2020-21 season and is in it for the long haul, so it's not as if the Jackets have to worry about him leaving.
On top of all that he is a good player and his on-ice play can do some of the talking for him.
I very much doubt he'll replicate last season's success moving forward - he had 73 points last year and his previous career high was 47 - but he will still be an effective player, and he plays with a lot of passion that the team can feed off of.
The Blue Jackets did not announce who Foligno's assistant's will be.
