The Calgary Flames open up training camp in just over two weeks, and the team still isn't sure as to whether Miikka Kiprusoff will be there or not.
Kiprusoff, 36, has one year remaining on his contract that will see him earn $1.5 million despite his $5.833 cap hit.
All indications from Kiprusoff towards the end of last season and early in the summer were that he would retire, but he's yet to file his retirement papers, according to Jay Feaster.
"No, he has not filed his retirement papers as of this date," Feaster said. "As I've said consistently since the end of the season, all indications he has given us suggest he will not be returning for the 2013-14 season."
While many fans have been eager to hear Kiprusoff's final decision, Feaster says giving Kiprusoff time to think was part of the plan.
"As I've also said consistently, we wanted to give him time over the summer to consider his future," Feaster said.
It appears likely Kiprusoff will retire, however, nothing is certain at this point. We will find out Kiprusoff's decision soon, according to Feaster.
"We will be discussing his situation with him once again as camp draws closer and we will have a definitive answer prior to the scheduled start of our 2013 Training Camp."
