In an effort to increase the production coming from the bottom-6 the Blue Jackets have recalled Kerby Rychel, while sending Alex Wennberg back to Springfield.
While the future looks very bright for Wennberg, he hasn't been playing much and has looked a little out of place at times so some more development time playing big minutes in the AHL could be just what he needs to get going.
On the other hand, Rychel brings some much needed scoring ability and offensive punch to the lineup. He has six goals and 13 points in 22 AHL games thus far, and is coming off a 90-point campaign in the OHL last season where he dominated the competition more nights than not.
The plan is for him to make his NHL debut tonight when the Jackets play a very tough Nashville team in their building.
Columbus is last in the NHL and already 10 points out of a playoff spot, so it may not be the worst thing in the world to get a look at the kids considering the season is likely already lost.
