I'll put it this way, she is to bloggers what Obama is to the presidency. She loves the title, the soap box and the perks, but she sucks at the actual job. - JimmyP
you guys want a new blog for the NVMC bid tomorrow?? i'll be writing one for sports edge but it will be about the death of either the wolfpack or sound tigers tomorrow...i'll gladly put one up but if this thread is fine that's cool too let me know... - NYI78
Dan, I think you're being a little harsh. What will happen is, one of the teams will be moving to LI in a couple of years...

how am I being harsh?? if msg wins the bid the wolfpack will move there...if ratner wins the sound tigers will move there...nothing to be harsh about one ahl team in ct will be given its marching orders today
It sounds as if he's on the floor of the stock exchange. Could barely hear him.
Truth be told, I really don't think there is that much uncertainty going into camp. I think the forwards are basically set. If Regin sticks, they've got 13 forwards. That leaves one spot for a prospect, most likely Nelson with Strome and Lee starting in Bridgeport. On "D", Streit's leaving leaves only one spot, which will likely be Donovan so de Haan can get a full, healty season under his belt. In goal, I'm sure they're going Nabby and Poulin just to allow Nilsson to get a full year in Bridgeport healthy. Barring any trades, I think the team is pretty much set. - Jethro09
I think nelson can out play regin to be the third line center....which would leave regin in the press box with boulton....and while it does look like their is only one spot open on d would it shock anyone if one of the kids outplayed the likes of hickey, strait, carkner and or finley to make the team?

The question is who? I think the only guy besides Donovan who would out-play one of those guys is de Haan. But, he's been hurt forever and I'm sure the Isles brass are going to want him to start in the "A" and show he can stay healthy before elevating him, unless he blows people away at camp. I don't think Mayfield, Reinhart, Pulock or Pedan are going to get the nod to the NHL unless they absolutely blow the team out of the water at camp. I think Finley is as good as waived.

this is the first year that if the isles had an injury on d or forward, we have legit, ready prospects in the AHL (strome, lee, nelson if he doesn't stick, dehaan, mayfield, pedan) who could come up and step in and actually contribute without a significant drop in talent (as long as JT isn't the one going down with injury)
this is the first year I can remember in a very long time when I looked at all the NHL ready talent and thought, we actually don't have room for them all on the team this year. This is an AWESOME situation, as it means guys will push others for playing time and we actually do have assets we could move to upgrade in different positions (not looking for a trade, I'd prefer to wait and see what we have, just saying)
Thanks 78, nice write up... I like everything I hear & see about Taylor.. I think size becomes an over blown topic.. if a guy can play.. a guy can play & from the looks of it Taylor has been able to play no matter where he goes.

Eh, I don't know...it's a significant factor I think...to a point. Let me put this disclaimer out there first to avoid being misunderstood...I'm not comparing Cammarata to Rakhshani, but I thought Rhett might have had the talent to be an NHLer. Problem was he got into the lineup and had some concussion and other injury issues. If he was a bigger and stronger player, maybe he could have absorbed some of that contact without suffering as many injuries. Heck, Steve Webb's back paid the price for being a smaller player that played the game like a player twice his size. If he was 6'4, it probably wouldn't have taken quite the toll on his body.
I think you need a lot more awareness, speed, shiftiness and overall talent as a small player to succeed in the NHL than you do as a bigger player. There are plenty of lazy players with size that can hang around the NHL strictly because they're big and strong. If a player like St. Louis approached the game the same way Dustin Penner does, he'd either be taken out on a stretcher every night or just not signed by anyone.
if ratner wins they will move the sound tigers to nassau - NYI78
The lease in Bport runs until like 2020 or something though. I think MSG can make a better case for getting a team in there quickly as the Wolfpack/Whale just signed to stay in Conn. but only, I think, until 2016.

With the population of Ranger fans on LI being a key selling point as well. I see Dolan getting this. The one positive will be the Dee Karl blog that follows.

$50 says she becomes a rangers fan...it seems like shes a much bigger fan of the arena then the team.
