Yeah, I like Hayes on the 3rd, like you said. Maybe in another year or two he might move up. Its nice to have 3 decent lines though. I would like to see Staal Stepan Nash. Thats a hell of a defensive line that can also be a top scoring line. - mdw7413
I think Nash gets back you do Zucc - Brassard, Kreider - Stepan, and Nash - Staal. Use Miller, Hayes, and either Lindberg or Fast (or Buchnevich ) to round out those duos.
A team can match 2 potent scoring lines well. But a 3rd is almost impossible. |

Can any of you guys tell me anything about Aleksi Saarela? Was he at training camp?
I know he had a decent tournament at the World Juniors and has some familiarity with Sebastian Aho, but wondering if anyone here has more info. |

One of the funniest things I read, was way back, I think it was you and WayneZ and some girl that was an Islanders fan. It was so (frank)ing funny. |

Only thing I know, was he played really good at the WJ's. Some other posters on here follow the prospects a bit more. I think he was looking like he was a steal in the 3rd round. |

he played well @ wjc but played with two absolute studs on his line.
he's signed for another year, so you probably wont see him until 2 years from now.
good prospect though. not one of our top 3 in my opinion but could develop into a player given time. the feeling is he is still a while away from being nhl ready. |

Good B prospect. Skates well, good defensively (as most Finnish forwards are), has a few years to go before he makes Carolina's lineup but he can be a solid second-third line swing man if he develops properly. |

It's a realistic statement, because Duclair isn't that good. He's a 2nd line player and Saarela projects into that too. |

Hogwash! Duclair is one of the best prospects ever, perhaps even better than McDavid.

This I was actually thinking as well. Duclair really isn't anything all that special... he's a straight up and down player who has above average hands. He's... I dunno... a more physical Kris Versteeg, probably? |

Perhaps, Duclair has more scoring touch while Saarela looks more well rounded. |

I wish nothing but the best for the kid, but if he turns out to be the next Teemu Selanne, that is really going to suck for us.

This particular comment stems from the Canes board yesterday. Apparently a Hurricanes fan was informed, by a Rangers fan no less, that Saarela is the next Selanne.
While I liked Saarela, and think he will be a good NHL forward, I don't see anything more out of him than a borderline second line winger. |

I would agree with that.
The kid I'm really looking forward to seeing is Kovacs. Despite being snubbed from the WJC, he has surpassed his point totals from last year by 6 points already despite playing 8 less games. This is on the team in Sweden's 2nd tier of hockey, and it appears he's played 4 games in the SEL too. Not sure if that was at the beginning of the year and then he got sent down to the 2nd tier or if he was playing so well in the 2nd tier that he's now up in the SEL. |
