Similar players, although Jenner is having a bit better statistical season.

I don't think anyone could reasonably be upset if we signed Miller for 2.5m for 2 years. Might take more to lock him up longer term, though.

I would think Gorton holds Miller in the high priority category this summer. Hope Gorton can get Miller locked in on a McDonagh type of extension.

It would definitely take more to lock him up long term, as the only way to get players to take less on the bridge, is with the incentive that they get to their next contract quicker. McDonagh and Stepan are really the case study in that. The Rangers devoted more longer term to McDonagh, and they got him at a steal (although paying more against the cap then they would have if they just signed him to a traditional bridge deal). They didn't have the money to do it with Stepan as well, so although they got Stepan for $3 million for a couple of years, now he is making $6.5 million.

The problem is that the Rangers are always up against the cap, so they have to utilize the lower cap bridge deals. McDonagh is the only time I remember they didn't (off the top of my head).

Boone Jenner just signed a 2 year/$5.8 million contract. Same draft year as Miller. That may provide some guidance as to what Miller may cost, although my guess would be that Miller gets somewhere closer to the $2.4-2.5 million range.

Edit:

Jenner: 167GP, 47G, 34A, 81 Points
Miller: 177GP, 32G, 35A, 67 Points

JT Miller's value is skyrocketing, taking off this year like we thought Kreider would. He's scoring, making smart plays w the puck, hitting, only gonna blossom still. Also going to take a lot to get him done long term, hence Gorton goes in the Sather bridge contract direction for this summer.

My first favorite Ranger as a kid was the Swede Tomas Sandstrom as I said before, took a licking & kept on ticking.

That was an assault on ice, we've talked about that on here recently. The more despicable thing was Flyers broadcasters whining on & on about how Sandstrom was faking it.

The Islanders with 2 games in hand even after last night. This weekends game w them (as always) is huge! A regulation win would put some more distance between us & go towards locking up that #2 Metro spot & 1st Rd home ice.

The East is really tight this year. A streak in either direction can mean all of the difference in the standings.
