So you think they got a book on refs ?
Like ref jones is super tight with hooking so be careful. But he's fine with obstruction
This seems ridiculous. This ain't baseball with a debateable strike zone - HB77
Just what I read. Never played hockey at a high enough level to know if refs are truly like this or not. Does seem that every game what earns a penalty is different though.

Depends on the situation. In the Oilers case you would take a long hard look at that deal that's for sure.
I watched a Calgary game a little while ago and Brodie did not look impressive. Lots of turnovers and mistakes that I've never really seen from him before. Could be just because of the injuries this year though. Haven't watched enough games to say definitively one way or another how good he is. I have just heard lots about him being as my dad is a Flames fan - Lemmewinks
If I'm either Calgary or edm, i take Brodie |

What about say the Leafs get the 1st overall I'd have to believe they would want Matthews over Brodie to really kick their rebuild off. |

From an Oilers perspective I'd gladly move the first overall for a Dman Brodie Trouba OEL. I don't think Matthews makes a difference for us but a solid young D man for sure would. |

I don't care how desperate for defense we are... you don't look hard at that deal. |

Good post and agreed
I was actuall say this doesn't apply to every franchise, but in terms of the two Alberta teams i believe it does
It actually probably fairly close in terms of which one teams across the league would rather
And let's not forget that Brodie is 25 and a true 1. With an amazing contract
Matthews has never played a game |

Brodie is not in the same league as Trouba and Trouba is not in the same league as OEL. |

What does it matter if we trade Matthews for a Dman or one of Nuge or Draisaitl if we keep Matthews. |

Yes the last thing we need is to draft yet another forward...time to go get some help on the blueline and maybe move this thing along

Brodie's better than trouba at present. In terms of this season it's not even really all that close. And i really like trouba
He's elite
He's ahead of giordano on their depth chart at this point |

Never was comparing them just stating that any young Dman with pedigree I'd be willing to move our pick for. |

For sure. I've had my fill of drafting the talented forward and then the hype machine goes full force over the summer only for us to fall flat on our face. |

You trade Matthews for a real legit established top d-man like OEL |

I was reading an article somewhere about how the refs all use there own discretion and they all call the game different. I thought the rules were black and white. Seems like the younger teams take more penalties just because they don't know the refs yet. - Lemmewinks
It is some serious bullpoop but that's just the way it is. It's in every league in every sport. Refs are a bunch of kunts |

Nurse sure has no love for Kane. The game in Edmonton he was in his face all game as well. |

but he's really had a coming out party this year
I bet he's even in the conversation for team Canada- seriously
He doesn't play a dynamic game tho. It's actually tough to tell kinda |

Yes but I don't like your list. OEL is far superior to Trouba and Brodie. |

Hahaha seems to be some confusion over my post. I'm in no way saying it's a 1 for 1 deal or anything. I was just giving examples of young defenders that I would be interested in. Pieces can always be added either way. |

So how are they 28th place with 2 true #1 dmen? If I'm Calgary I take Matthews, the big franchise center |

How are we 29th with 4 first overalls, 3 -1C's, Connor
Etc etc?
A whole bunch of reasons for both teams.
Goaltending is brutal- not a ton of skill up front beyond two forwards really etc
It's like boiling our issues down to 1 thing. Doesn't work that way |
