Team just isn't good enough defensively I hate losing to the wild

Pretty good game offensively and Picks played well coming off the bench.

The defense is just atrocious. Roy played around with the D-pairings in the 2nd period and it was the Avs best period of the game. Then for some unknown reason, he goes back to the original pairings and Holden (once again) is standing around watching the GWG go in the net.

It was fun watching the new guys though. I think the additions were good it just didn't address the team's biggest weakness.

Time to ride Pickard for a few games to knock some sense into Varly

My god minny has our number in a big way... May we not meet in the playoffs for at least a couple years. (Or until Parise slows down a little) I thought the game itself was pretty entertaining to watch, rather be on the winning side

Tough loss. Gotta get back on the horse though. A couple of serious defensive lapses but at the same time, Varly was very mediocre. I think Roy should give Picks the nod against Florida. Gotta keep everyone accountable.

As well as Picks played coming off the bench, I think he deserves to get a few starts. No, Varly didn't play his best against Detroit but man... I can't count how many times Minny came in on the rush and flat-out beat the Avs defense and the shot attempts were basically one-on-one with Varly in that first period.

That has to be disheartening for a goalie. You want to make that big save to give the team a chance but you ARE going to get beat on some of those and the Avs just gave up too many chances.

Picks is a blast to watch. He is quick as a cat and is humble as he can be. I love his interviews. You can tell he is just loving every minute of this. Maybe that's the spark the Avs need to get back into the race.

Picks is the future and the future may come sooner than we expected. Varly has been very streaky this year.

Streaky is even a bit far fetched. It seems like hes doing just barely enough to keep us alive and in the race. But yeah, Letting in these weak backhanders, squeakers and 5 hole'rs is not typical of Varlomov. I think that Russian broad has gotten into his head with her shenanigans.

Tough game..

Lets go with Picks for a bit... Needs to be done, even though we already know what hes capable of, hes always been the go to guy when Varly is injured, lets see him try to take over the thrown with Varly on the bench when the pressure is really on.

If he succeed I would expect to see a Varly trade in the offseason, that 6 Million a year becomes quite important in this big offseason and don't think Burnaby Joe don't know this already.

I still think Varly is our franchise goalie. When he is on he is REALLY on. Lets not forget who has been carrying this team the past few seasons. I just think if Picks continues to play well it will establish a competition between the two, which is good news for all of us.
