I want to know what professional hockey league uses chain link fences as boards and ignores the basic rules of hockey (i.e. nothing is ever a penalty unless you murder someone). |

Is he good enough to play low tier pro ice hockey? Could he physically? I hear some of those leagues are really goon leagues.
Also, if he likes working with his hands, a trade school would be better and much cheaper. - jmatchett383
He has a friend who plays in the Federal League but that's a real crap show. He had some interest there but once he saw how things were done he was out.
At this point I don't care what he does as long as he does something to get himself moving forward. Working part time as a dish washer/beer stocker/janitor and hockey ref isn't going to pay any bills. |

Oilers are the Sixers of the NHL - Just5
I think, it's other way around- Sixers are the Oilers of the NBA. Since Oilers have perfected tanking and subsequent killing of the 1st overall picks way before Sixers. |

i think that's true to some degree, but there's been chatter all season about trading neuvirth no matter how good he's been, which i thought was a terrible idea.
there's zero question mason has been outstanding as a flyer, until this season. he's dipped some, but still overall had a good year, and i'm fine with that. neuvirth - according to my eye test - i don't give a poop about the numbers really, has been better from the outset, and because of that, he gets more of the benefit of a doubt from the fans i guess. fair? not really, given mason's body of work as a flyer.
i don't know what it will take for the fickle/blame the goalie for everything mentality to go away, if ever possible. i would imagine it might take a homegrown kid like stolarz (or someone else) to rise up and become a brodeur, a richter, a csp, mainstay for 10+ years and maybe win a cup or two along the way. the last beloved goalie we have is hextall. it's been 18 years.
i think mason and neuvirth are both terrific goalies and i'm happy to have them. and despite these 3 isolated and different "bad goals" neuvirth has given up in recent games, he's still playing the same way, is locked in, competing on every puck and i don't see any bad habits or problems where he's getting beaten similarly on stoppable shots etc. poop happens during the year. a miscued puck, a bad rebound, a puck that squeezes through the 7 hole on a screen...i put zero stock in that. he's just fine.
they need to play desperate at this stage with 20 games to go. coach has to go with who he thinks gives them the best chance. i have no problem with neuvirth taking the reigns if that's what happens. he gives them a great chance every single night. - hammarby31
I am very happy with both goalies and have no issue with their play. Bad goals happen. that doesn't bother me. was just pointing out how fickle some, not all, fans can be. |

That movie is directed by Edward Zwick, who did Glory, Blood Diamond, The Last Samurai, among other things. He probably directed it just to see Anne Hathaway naked too. |

"The last 1st-time draft eligible #WHL defenceman to score more than Jake Bean's 22 goals was Kris Russell in 2004-05"

I know that's just a random user created redraft, but my god, that's awful.
You could get a better redraft mock just by picking names out of a hat. |

How does the WHL playoff work? Brandon is running away with their division, but Calgary is 3rd. Is it just top 2 from each division? If so, Phantoms could get Fazleev and Sanheim on PTOs.
Edit: Never mind, Calgary already clinched a berth. |

Brandon is definitely better than Calgary. They could go pretty deep. But yeah I don't think the timing will work with either. |

Every single Flyers CHL prospect that I can think of (Myers, NAK, McFalls, Konecny, Fazleev, Provorov, Sanheim) is in the playoffs. |

Probably for the better tbh. Myers and NAK could legit contend for the Memorial Cup too I think. Their teams are just powerhouses. |

By comparison, the day the Edmonton Oilers talked about Justin Schultz's "Norris Trophy potential" after a brief time in the NHL was more or less the point where they ruined him; possibly for good.
Do you really think a comment from a GM can actually ruin a player?
It has to be multiple factors. Maybe he wasn't that great to start with. Playing him too soon on a team that was perpetually losing couldn't help. I do agree with the way Hextall parses his praise and wants players to earn and appreciate what it is to be in the NHL by spending time riding the buses in the AHL. |

i saw it in the theater when it was released in 1986. making jokes and references for 30 years creates attachment. it was somewhat ridiculous then. it still is. |

The problem (too me at least) is that its not just a comment; It is an expectation.
When a GM (especially a GM) makes a comment about a guy being the best d-man in the game, you end up putting a ton of pressure on the player. |

I agree it is a dumb thing to do.
Not sure it can ruin a player.
Maybe it is all about perceptions and expectations. I guess in that sense it could hurt. |
