No Giroux for Team Canada (yet)

I knew Giroux wouldn't make it. Team Canada has a serious hate on for him. I was actually surprised that he was asked to play at the WCs in Prague.

I would assume there's a 5% chance Ghost is left off when the final roster comes out. Though I would've named him over Ryan Murray for one of the first 4 d spots without hesitation. Seriously though...Ryan Murray over Hamilton, Ghost, and Trouba? Strange.

But Coots was named early -- they could've just waited until full roster, but he made the first choices. My child.

It's just the first roster spots. I didn't expect Giroux to make it on there initially, even if he should over someone like Carter or even, hot take, Stamkos. Hockey Canada is all politics. All of those 4 should make it on the final roster, though it would surprise me not one single bit to leave Giroux off. And it will be a crock of poop per usual.

Having said all this, there is NO way PK Subban is not one of the 4 best d men on Canada. Hell, he might be one of the 4 best in the world. Again, politics.

And he did really well. Fwiw, Todd McLellan who coached them is Team NA coach. He really liked Coots during the WC, so it makes sense he'd lobby for him to be one of the top guys.

Those jerseys are (frank)ing horrendous. I can't tell if the logic looks like demonic verse or the letter A doing a goofy wave. The color scheme too is just awful.

considering there are something like 8 centers named so far I doubt G is one of the last 7 players named but stranger things have happened.
