It's just the first roster spots. I didn't expect Giroux to make it on there initially, even if he should over someone like Carter or even, hot take, Stamkos. Hockey Canada is all politics. All of those 4 should make it on the final roster, though it would surprise me not one single bit to leave Giroux off. And it will be a crock of poop per usual.

Having said all this, there is NO way PK Subban is not one of the 4 best d men on Canada. Hell, he might be one of the 4 best in the world. Again, politics.

Claude Giroux is better than both Jeff Carter and Chris Kunitz. Also while I understand that John Tavares, Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin are both incredible players right now, Giroux has been a stud performer for a lot longer.

Honestly, if anyone was watching the WC in Prague last year AT ALL..they would have seen just how good G was. Furthermore, he was easily Canada's best player in the gold medal game vs Russia...better than Crosby. But no! he can't be on the world cup team.. WTF??
