Washington also got a later pick, like maybe a 6th rounder? I'd have to look. I think Umberger could be moved if they really wanted to. now AMAC is next to impossible. well, unless the Flyers ate the max of the contract.

considering there are something like 8 centers named so far I doubt G is one of the last 7 players named but stranger things have happened.

Figure 3 will be D. So that's 4. You've named Couture, Perry, Monahan & Duchene. Giroux has been more productive than all four of them this season. He's a better faceoff guy than all of them. He's a better two way player than all of them. He can play wing or center.

I'm fine with him staying home and being pissed off, because last time that happened, he pretty much carried a team similar to this one to the playoffs.

From an entirely selfish point of view, I think G getting snubbed will put a nice sized chip on his shoulder all year. Couple that with an improved team and it could catapult us to go deep in the playoffs. Same goes for Ghost not getting on the under 23 team.

Stuff like he's been a good soldier and didn't skip a camp because he had an injury, or his dad was an assistant of somebody or other.

Lot of organizations are like that. Hockey Canada is rife with it. Chris Kunitz made the Olympic team because he was Crosby's linemate. Joe Hicketts was the top D on the World Junior team because his dad is a Hockey Canada guy.

Same thing goes on with the US team. Look at Abdelkader. He got named and Lombardi said "He's a kid. He's only going to get better" Abdelkader is 29.
