I hope they pick 4th. (frank) em. I've lost all respect for that franchise. Hinkie should be banned from the league. What a joke. - BiggE

I think having Justin Williams is huge for the Caps but they still have to find away to do whatvthey never do. Make a deep run. - SuperSchennBros
I only saw the 3rd period last night against the Pens, but man, the Caps looked good. Down 1 goal with 8 minutes left, the Pens were only able to generate one decent scoring chance. The Caps completely shut them down. They're big, skilled and fast and pretty deep up front. With Holtby in goal, as long as their D stays relatively healthy, they are going to be extremely hard to beat.

Yep.
If you go through the Oilers roster, they have a lot of young hockey players you might want on your team. As a unit, for whatever reason, they can't get it together.
The Sixers have guys on the roster that do not belong in the NBA. - johndewar
The Oilers have been at this for like 10 years. The Sixers have for 2.5 years. I think we should let things play out before comparing the two. Also, if the Sixers got four #1 picks, they'd be in a much better place right now |

You're not asking me, but I'll answer.
The year they tanked and got Embiid, I got it. There were a few guys in there who were supposed franchise All-Star types. Embiid got hurt, but they had to take him and hope he would bounce back.
After that, I wasn't for it. Basically, in the NBA, if you see a top-3 pick as being able to transform you into a contender, then I get it. The multi-year tank, to me, is unacceptable.
But it's okay, Hinkie will trade all of the players they've used first round picks on to acquire more 1st round picks. Maybe in another 10 years or so they'll be satisfied/ |

Based on their situation, they didn't really have any other options. They owed first round picks that were top 7 protected, they had no cap space and really only had a few good players on the team. In the NBA, you can't trade first round picks for back to back years, so if you give up a pick in 2015 and 2017, you can't trade another until 2019.
Basically, they couldn't sign anyone to get better, they couldn't make trades to get better because they lacked any real assets and the players on their roster were just good enough to make them the 10th-14th worst team, which would have resulted in them losing their first round picks.
This is the last year of tanking though. It was never meant to take this long, but they've had bad luck. I also don't think Hinkie thought Okafor would be this much of a net negative. This is the only year where they are just historically awful. The other years they were just run of the mill bad. |

It''s one thing to be out of it at the trade deadline and then to sell off your vets and what not, but not even attempting, from day 1 of the season, to put a legit NBA team on the court is just pathetic.

Absolute must game tomorrow. You simply cannot lose games to teams like Edmonton if you want to make the playoffs. - BiggE
And Saturday as well against Columbus. 4 points in these next two games are a must. First thing first, have to get the 2 points tomorrow night. |

They took a lot of chances, not getting Wiggins and getting Embiid instead of KAT set everything back two years. No I don't like tanking but the NBA is a lot different than the NHL, the right player can lead a franchise, whereas outside of Crosby (based on recent years debateable) and looks like McDavid, 1 guy can't win all the cups. Lebron has shown that 1 guy can get you to the finals multiple times.
We also knew it was going to be a 3-5 year process and this draft/off season is where the sucking needs to stop. Potential really good guy this year, Saric, ALL of the cap space, they could make this team good in one off season if they can get the right FA. Plus if Embiid ever plays, which I personally don't think he will, but if he does, he is going to be a monster.
I also hate the NBA and am willing to wait for the Sixers longer than I'm willing to wait for any other team. We're in a really crappy spot in this city with our teams but at least the management is doing things the right way for once. Hexy is doing a great job, the Phillies have a lot of young talent, the Eagles...well...I'll leave that one alone. And the Sixers are taking a crap shoot on trying to make something special. I hate waiting but it takes time to build really good teams, unfortunately Philly jumped on that bus late but at least we're on it now.

Those Who Know (on Sirius radio) say it will take 95 points to make playoffs in the east.
A lot of winning will be necessary between now and the end of the season.

That sounds about right. They will have to pull off a run of something like 12-6-2 to get there. It ain't gonna be easy.

You can say you find the tanking revolting and repulsive, but no rational argument can be made that the team isn't in a much better position now than it would have been had they not embarked on this strategy. |

its funny but had Mason played the last few games giving up one bad goal a game like Neuvirth has, people would be screaming for Neuvirth. the lack of love for Mason who has been good from day one of the trade for the most part puzzles me. |
