So trade deadline is done, now the numerous blogs about the draft and who the Leafs take has got me thinking... and golly do I like thinking

So Hunter and his scouting staff will be doing the majority of the picks at the draft but I am curious if Lou will have some input in terms of targeting a goalie. Quick look through Lou's draft history on Hockeydb.com and since Marty drafted in 1990 10th overall (he drafted 2 other goalies in rounds 3 and 10, 1990 draft) Lou has drafted 1993 (1/Round9), 1994 (2/R 6&10), 1995 (2/R 5&8), 1997 (2/R 1&8), 1999 (1/R 1), 2000 (1/R 5), 2003 (1/R 6), 2004 (1/R 6), 2005(1/R 2), 2010(1/R 3), 2013(1/ R 7), 2015(1/R 2)

He likes his goalies and well aside from Marty probably not the best record, but the point being Lou likes building from the net out and as we saw with Schneider if he can't draft one he trades for one in the future. Just wont be surprised to see a few late picks used on goalies with Lou offering his input on the overall plan

If Tampa due to cap reasons intend to move big Ben and move forward with Vasilevsky, he might be a solid choice, has the playoff experience and would be great for Sparks/Bib to learn from him.

If you want some real advice, the only thing your blog is missing is regular contributions from a washed up old media personality with a chip on his shoulder that nobody cares about anymore. Howard Berger is definitely available.

it's certainly a tricky spot to be in.

I think they felt the kids deserved a taste of the NHL and that's why they are there now. they earned it.

as for the ELC year...who knows, time will tell what their master plan is.

perhaps with the leafs not moving as many bodies at deadline - they may have more bodies that are able, and end up sending the kids down back to dominate the A.
