But you don't like an assemblage of the greatest hockey players in the world playing to represent their home countries?
The skill level of the WC or Olympics is off the chart.
Do you also prefer the Toledo Symphony to the New York Philharmonic? If you do, you don't appreciate talent.

You're arguing this with so much intentional dis-ingenuity that it's ridiculous. Not once did I say anything about the quality of the game - the best game is the one where you care the most about the outcome, and I just think country vs country is stupid for the reasons I outlined.
The reason I cheer for Toronto or Phoenix is because I live with them over years enjoying and debating about their moves and how they go about building their teams - to me that adds in most of the stuff I care about for.
