Gomez was brought in because it's stupid to have Nick Paul playing in the NHL right now.
It was nice for him to get a taste and now he should finish the rest of the season in the AHL.
We already saw what playing 4th line mins with Chris Neil all season does to a young player's development (Lazar).
Gomez can come in, play on the 4th line, and Paul can go back and continue his development. |

What was Murray thinking on this one?
Depth? If we're not making the playoffs who cares about depth.
We're better off calling someone up from Bing then doing this.

With all the new faces with the BSens, why didn't they just call someone up?
Or are they convinced that Gomez is a better option in a push for the playoffs?? - Pecafan Fan
Lol.
And anyone left on Bingo at this point is not good enough for the AHL, let alone the NHL.... |

Ok, I stand corrected. There are two players currently good enough to be AHLers |

Gomez had 20 assists in18 AHL games this year
27 assists in 58 NHL games last year
Why not?
I actually saw he was granted free agency a few days ago and thought, why not

No way this group makes the playoffs. Shut Turris and Mac down. Get the 7th - 10th overall pick. |

I'd rather see Paul over Chiasson and Lazar
What is the point in playing Chiasson any more?

Agree on Chiasson but Lazar hasn't been that bad right? He's had some rough times this season but still all the tools to be a decent NHLer, give him so confidence. We're not making the play offs anyways, even though we're making moves like we will |

Not sure what people are pissing and complaining about... Gomez has been brought in as a potential stop-gap centre because Turris is being shut down for the year. Maybe Gomez can fill the void, maybe he can't... but he's got over 1,000 NHL games and 750pts under his belt, and obviously wants to play NHL minutes. They gave up nothing to get him, and he's signed on the cheap for 1/4 of a season.
I know some people really like high draft picks, but it's not a terrible idea to have someone other than Ryan playing in the top-6 who has more than 2-3 years of NHL experience. Plus, he's a hispanic Alaskan playing in the NHL... that comes around about as often as Halley's Comet. |

I dont get the gomez signing at all?
I dont dislike the guy, in fact if you guys were in the hunt for a wildcard spot, i would say this is a solid signing, but basically being out of the picture at this point, why would you not try out a prospect? |

Yep believe he was. I don't really know the ins and outs of NHL contracts though. Being from the UK they seem complicated compared to sports over here. |

yup, but he has only played 7 games so far so I expect him to be send down soon Or is he not eligible anymore to play for Bingo because he was on the roster come trade deadline? |

Good Lord we need to break up the Zibby Ryan line, there is absolutely nothing there, they have zero chemistry. At this point I think Pageau has earned some time on the 1st line just as a reward for all his effort. No he's not a true 1st liner but at this point we can afford to do some wacky things with the lines. Put Zibby with Stone and hope someone starts firing the puck in the general vicinity of the net.
Nothing worse than playes in a huff over a goal drought but still refuse to shoot the puck. The dang thing isn't going to walk in for you. You don't shoot, you don't score. |

Ya, our talent pool is so shallow we have to pilfer other teams reserves to find a body to field a team.
Gomez is ok, he's no Jager but I guess if you're trying to get some experience at rock bottom prices then a senior citizen like Gomez will do that for you. |

Making a move like that though makes you wonder why they didn't go for Richards earlier in the season. Believe that was his name anyway. |

God, I didn't even know that was a possible consideration
In any case, if he was in the AHL he was burning off a year of his ELC anyways, which was my only point. |
