Trade a UFA u cannot afford for assets n a pick.
Nothing spectacular nor will be difference makers.
Asset management is all it is but not necessarily an upgrade.

I notice how you failed to respond to any of what I wrote about your team. See I know my team is bad. You are delusional if you think your team has a shot at winning anything.

Glad you know your team is bad! Bad, bad, bad. Worst team in the league for the last five years. So many humiliating meltdowns and you guys have so long still before you're even legitimately competing for the playoffs.

All your fans do this year is look for answers and get trolled by Toronto fans.

Except for goldfish fans like you that wait for glimpses of success then head over here to try to talk sh*t.

So many of your type around in October..

The difference is the Oilers are still in a battle for last after 5 years of drafting top prospects. The Leafs will bottom out this year, and start moving back up the standings next year.

We have to free up money on D and having him on the third pairing for under $1 Million makes sense to me. Hopefully we can move one of Wideman or Engelland in the off season.

I'm getting more comfortable with the possibility of bringing Ortio back as a backup next year. He has to play 6 more games to be considered an RFA which means we should be able to lock him up nice and cheap. Keep the goalie total under $6mill with him around 1 and someone like Reimer around $5mill. God knows why we saw Hiller the other night? Let him ride off into the sunset imo.

How many times have they tore it down already - the organization is the worst in the league & it's not even close.

Oh yeah, you can have all the offense you want, it doesn't & will never win you a championship. Maybe draft another forward come June, see if that helps.

You can't talk smack!! You cheer for the oilers!!

Why not? Who made this rule? I didn't build the oilers, I just happened to grow up in sherwood park and ain't gonna jump off the bandwagon now.

And neither does the oilers being bad change the fact that your team is horrible too.

I don't mind the banter, it's all in good fun. Neither team has been relevant for so long, so it's all pretty meaningless. And most of the Flames posters are pretty good about it.

But there's a few like that 'dal Johnson' guy that go on these way too serious diatrIbes about why it's not ok for oilers fans to chirp. pretty funny actually. Especially since our team is 29th with 55 pts, his is 28th with 56. I long for the days when they're both elite and we can Really truly hate each other. Sounds like those were good times

Saw this oiler troll get torn to pieces in the tanner thread with facts and logic. It was Pretty awesome.
His best response was; " no, Im not wrong!!!".........

Apparently you'd all be interested in Brodie for the first??!!

And then he goes to another thread to spew the same nonsense he just got torn to pieces over
Rationality means nothing to these idiots. .

As far as worst organization, maybe yeah. But this year I'd say your habs are certainly in the running. Is there a team more dependant on one player? Without price are you Guys actually the worst? Wins and losses would indicate so.

Nice chart....curious though ...I'm going to go out on a limb and say he was playing on the 3rd pairing with the least offensive D partner ...and probably not out there with Benn seguin etc ...if Kevin was putting up more shot attempts and more goals than the more offensive players then Dallas wouldn't be a potential contender ...not saying he is going to be anything more than a 5/6 but lets get real here

I thought he had his bright moments last night, but it was his first game with a new team. Through some big hits, picked up an assist can't ask for much more. Think he will fit in nicely in a couple of games.

How did I get brought into this. I haven't even said anything today. So now I will.

I was there when both teams were elite. I grew up watching the TRUE battle of Alberta. I'm all for you being a fan of your team. I actually commend you for standing by them through all of these past few years. As a hockey fan myself I think that is s truly commendable thing for you as a fellow fan.

As for chirping, that implies that you have some grounds to stand on when you do it. That your team has truly accomplished something. Even something small. Something that you want to stand up on your soap box and broadcast, while busting down those beneath you. It's part of the friendly rivalry that is sport and fans of their team.

The only thing that the Oilers have accomplished in the last 6 or 7 years winning the draft lottery 4 times, and currently having the second best chance to do so again. Once cool. Twice, awesome. Four times (and maybe five) can you honestly tell me that you are proud, and not horribly embarrassed, of your team that this has happened? That's not an accomplishment, it's an award for ineptitude. It is luck. It is bingo balls falling out of a hole. Your team did nothing but all the wrong things to accomplish this.

That in the last 6 years, despite having 4 first overall picks, a third overall and a seventh in your line up (Including McDavid that as a Flames fan I will gladly admit will be a generational elite of the elite players) that you still sit in the second last spot in the league? Do you really want to broadcast that accomplishment? Are you happy that your team constantly preaches "patience", or "wait until next year". Will you be part of the big celebratory parties that they show video footage of if the Oilers win the lottery again? Are you honestly proud of that accomplishment. I would be horribly embarrassed at that stage of celebrating complete and total failure as a franchise. That is why I say that you shouldn't chirp, because I don't believe that you have anything to chirp about other the whatever line you tell yourself to make you feel like it will be ok. Stand by your team, 100%. But until they accomplish something, keep you mouth shut about it.

I will completely admit that my team has had a terrible, setback of a year. I don't think that I have much to chirp about this season. They are only 1 point (with 2 games in hand) ahead of your team. But here is the fact of it, that I will admit. Your team should be better than mine. Your team has been given every opportunity to be better than mine. Other teams (not my team yet) with much less to work with than your team have shown true success, development, and are now contenders or close to being so.

You want to chirp, tell me what your team has accomplished that give you the right to do so.

And just to note I made that one extra long and extra serious because this donkey singled me out in a conversation that I wasn't even part of.

I know I do a lot of long posts. If you don't like them skip over them. Nobody forces anybody to read anything on here. (I do love when somebody takes the time to read my long post, only to comment that it was a long post). But I have never done a long one that was all cracking on the Oilers. Usually all about future for the Flames and where I believe they should go with players.

you got brought in cause I've just recently read a few of your painful posts proclaiming who should think what and what the rules are for banter...

On and on and on about the draft. Jesus

Who said we're stoked that we're still struggling and have a shot at a high pick? It's like your entire premise is based on this narrative that oilers fans must love getting the first pick because the team we cheer for has gotten the first pick. I realize this false contention makes it easier to attempt to try your point home, but it doesn't make it any more true.
Admittedly, there wasn't an oiler fan who wasn't amped to get Connor, but he's a pretty special case. But even still, there also wasn't a fan around that was happy when we were nosediving to be in the spot to get him. Until it was just inevitable that we aren't getting out of the bottom 3.

In fact, it sounds more like you're annoyed about it than any oiler fan I can think of is happy about it. And therein probably lies the projection....

And in terms of why we should be better, again, you're ignoring the facts of the situation to drive your false premise.
Who cares that yakupov was first overall? How does his draft position change anything about his ineffective game? If you're so concerned about positioning, trade us Monahan for him. The guy was a 6th overall, so he must be inferior, no?

Even nuge, who's gonna be a great two way center is nowhere near what we think of in terms of first overalls. But that fact doesn't matter as much to you as getting to say "4 first overalls" over and over again does it?

Yakupov
Nuge
An 18 year old that's missed more than half the season
Hall

Mine doesn't sound quite as good I guess.

Beyond that, I could get into the lack of insulation when they were first in the league, the lack of confidence that's become a byproduct of losing , the inability to sign dmen of quality and the time it's taken to wait on nuurse/klefbom etc etc etc etc . But it's mostly an exercise in futility. The oilers are bad, and have been for too long and we wish they still weren't.

But none of this disqualifies me from chirping that aside from one seemingly unsustainable year, the flames have also been one of the leagues worst for half a decade too. It's a fact. Have they been better than the oilers? Yeah. But if that your measuring stick, then you're in big trouble and you probably should be chirped.

Plus, I didn't build the team. I'm just a fan. And with being a fan comes banter with rivals. I didn't make this rules. They just are

I will try and settle this in a way that hopeully makes sense.....Oilers suck and the Flames suck....the only battle of Alberta this year will probably end up who has the rights to the #1 pick...outside of the Flames making the playoffs last year none of us have done anything of note whatsoever...yes we talk poop but so do you guys....speaking of where are the bunch that were saying at the beginning of the season to us that your defence was going to take you deep into the playoffs? what happened to those guys?
