Come on everybody, it was one game. Pretty teams win pretty and it sure was. Made it look easy. And they are even deeper for sure. But they are going to have games where an opposing coach will game plan for what the hawks like to do and force them to do something different. That's what I want to see before I go ape poop. Of course, I'm a patient guy. So if that didn't happen until next year that's ok by me. - 6628
Agreed, the Wings are a team that is going to try to play a pretty possession game and that plays into the Hawks' hands, maybe why the Hawks' record against the Wings is crazy good over the last five seasons or so.
Teams that are hard on the forecheck and jam up the neutral zone will present a problem for the Hawks, sometimes a stifling problem, until they adjust and go to a station to station game, dump and chase and bang. That's why Ladd and Wiese and Fleischmann are such good acquisitions, and getting Kruger back will help because he is good at going and retrieving pucks. |

It will be interesting to see what guys in the bottom 9-15 are asked to suit up for these games. When Freddy is back, do you keep Moose in the lineup or do you hit the Panik Button? These dudes have been noticeable along the wall, imo. Hard choices |

I wouldn't be surprised to see him back here someday, maybe at "bridge" time ?? - Hawkytalk
Not while Bergy is still in power in MTL. He loves him.
But stranger things have happened. |

wish he had gone with #45 here so we could have the AK45 line. nothing like a rapid fire scoring line. |

Obviously tiny sample size, but Ehrhoff seemed to fil like a glove last night. I like the fact he looks to shoot the puck and, if not for a bouncing puck, would have had a nice goal while joining the rush. It will be interesting to see how he does against some of the heavier teams out west. Time will tell, but considering the price was Scuds (and half his cap), he could be found money. |

Shaw Wiese Ladd Desi and Hossa can play a tough low board game when healthy .That is some nice grit to go along with the fastest team in the league ... |

You can probably add Toews, Ras & Panik to that list -- along with Anisimov (very unsung IMO on his board play and a HUGE reason why 72 and 88 are having the great years -- big body with some real tenacity down low) and Panarin (for his size and skill, he is also a tiger along the boards). |

We are not even close to the fastest team in the league. Tevo, Kane, Pan are all above Avg and look faster because they have elite hands. our fastest player is Hossa endline to endline and he is 37. Keith never gets tired so his speed is better compared to most later in games and later in shifts. When you think about fast players its guys that D men try and get the angle on and check into the boards at the blue line but realize too late they cannot get in front of them. Stalberg, Saad, Come to mind.

Yeah I like Ehrhoff a lot. I'm sure the system in LA just didn't suit him. The guy is not an old geezer. He is 33 and he still has jump in his step. I think that pick up could be the biggest one of the deadline if it pans out. |

I don't know if Gramps is HOF material or not, but the organization should retire #28. |

Very true Anisimov has been a total surprise to me ,I never thought he was that type of player . |

Stalberg, Grabner, Kreider, Boedker - all extremely fast but lacking in other areas of the game.
Larkin on the other hand looks to be the real deal. |

Tampa, Washington, Colorado, Nashville...you can even make an argument with Minnesota.
Doesn't mean the Hawks can't beat them, but the team isn't the same young wide-eyed speedsters they were 6 years ago, |

-Calder winner '83 (as 6th round pick)
-Canada Cup winner '91, scoring key goal in clinching game
-Stanley Cup winner '94, on ice in dying seconds as defensive stalwart
-884 consecutive games played, 3rd all time
-1012 pts in 1006 regular season games, 131 points in 140 playoffs games
- +203 for his career
-'the best player' Fozzie Bear Foley said he's seen come through Chicago
He wasn't a kiss ass though, to either the Hawks or the NHLPA he later rep'd
And yes, 28 should have been in the rafters yesterday

Last year's team wasn't overly fast either. I think the 2013 was faster. |

I'm happy with the early returns on the new guys but it's only 2 games. I have to be careful not to fall in the trap of thinking the team is almost unbeatable after they win a couple in impressive fashion only to swing to the other extreme after they lay an egg or two. At least it's March and they have entered the home stretch. Exciting times. |
