Sucks that the Hawks have to play a game against the opponent AND their own goalie at the same time, but i think we're up for the challenge. No way Boston's D holds up against our waves of attack, we'll get our legs going and the Kane line will unleash the wrath. |

Darling 2 Blackhawks 1
This game presents 2 scenarios that likely aren't mutually exclusive.
The importance of a great number 1 goaler, and...
The importance of getting the backup goaler enough reps to be reliable. |

He really does suck this year - EnzoD
Maybe he wouldn't suck if he got more playing time to keep the rust off. It seems like I only see him starting about once every three weeks.

You rock maria. I missed the entire first, other than clicking in on game center, figured I'd watch the 2nd. Sounds like the boys stunk it up in the first. |

Remember last summer when everyone was ready to trade Crawford and make Darling the starter for cap savings? Yeah...good times |

I think the numbers say otherwise - at least the last 7 games. |

I was driving home for the 1st and listening to the radio feed... Sounds like they stunk it up but also Marchand got away with two slashes on Hammer, one of which resulted in their first goal |

Darling does need more games, however, the first goal was fluky - off of his own guy's stick. While the second looked soft, guarantee you Marchand had all day to use Hammer as a screen.
Real problem is only five SOG. Can't get rushes going through the neutral zone. Time to dump and chase. |

Quite a different Hawks team tonight. Having trouble making and catching passes is the tell that says the Hawks are not going to have a good game. So far, that's the way it looks. Giving credit to Boston who are playing very well defensively and on the forecheck and reading and intercepting passes. Couple that with Darling's poor play and the Hawks are lucky it's only a 1 goal deficit. Darling's can't catch a shot and his rebound control is terrible. Both of those goals were weak goals to give up. The only thing he has done well is get the puck behind the net and make good decisions with it.
Panarin ... stop doing that. Learn from your mistakes and stop trying to skate the puck through the best defensive forward in the game.
2 more periods to go ... let's hope they don't resemble the 1st period. |

Darling should have had the second goal. The first one took a ridiculous deflection off Hammer's stick.
Panarin was stuck on the ice for way too long before that second goal. He was running on fumes there. |

Yep, Darling stinks tonight but he does have a valid excuse because he hasn't played enough to be at his best.

HAWKS did not have their legs to start , then Darling craped the bed . He is the back-up for a reason , and he has to know how to come off the bench and play well , or someone else will .. |

With the organization picking up Drew McIntyre from Carolina, I would believe that Leighton being the third 'tender during the playoffs is a certainty. |

Rockford's goalie situation is setup for Leighton to be either place...
...he's at least the third option, and easily promoted if deemed necessary.
Yeah...what Eli said. |

Is there any goalie who doesn't use it these days? - StLBravesFan
Me. Oh you meant an actual NHL goalie, not a poor beer league, old man, hack. |
