So Raffi Torres would have a Full NTC in your scenario - Gerk
Dude, seriously? I'm sure he's talking about eligibility. Guys would still have to negotiate it in to their contact. |

Yeap, pretty much this. You are not eligible to receive a NTC/NMC until your 5th year in the league.
Its gotten to the point where 99% of the UFA's gets a NTC anyways on july 1. |

i think what would really make the trade deadline exciting is if every team got one opportunity to make a trade proposal that the other team couldn't refuse. now, this would be subject to cap compliance. and maybe players on ELC would be exempt. but otherwise have at it!! |

Otherwise everybody employed by the team has to shave their heads. |

SINCE WHEN WAS THE TRADE DEADLINE A SPECTACLE LIKE ALLSTAR GAME?
Teams do what they need to to make team better for present or future. The fans' take on it should have no meaning and is stupid. |

Maybe someone has already mentioned this?...
Sellers at the deadline tend to be teams that are not up against the cap. This gives them an advantage because they can ask for higher draft picks in the trade by taking back bad contracts. (ala the Leafs) If the buying team doesn't have to worry about the cap for one player then you remove this sellers advantage and the selling team takes longer to rebuild. |

Changing the CBA(ya plan would require that) still wouldn't make Hockeybuzz relevant on trade deadline day......
EK no one comes here for the rumors.. 90% of the comments in your blogs are people taking shots at you and the rest pics/gifs/ and a few titties....Fans come here to chat in the comment sections of the blogs and follow the legit writers..There not one fk'n thing wrong with that by the way as it's one of the best places on the internet for a good hockey chat and laugh all under the same roof......
Maybe you should finally accept that this rumor thing not working and maybe change the focus of the site..Turning it into the best hockey discussion site on the internet might actually be a good thing for ya because at this point for the most part this place just a running joke for legit hockey sites..... |

I would be in favor of this idea if the team trading for the UFA only gets to use one player's salary to go over the cap. Everyone else they trade for has to be under the cap. |

I like it just the way it is, it would just take away the excitement of July 01 free agency and would not be an equal playing field for teams not making the playoffs. Will not even consider this idea.

This is already the case though. You can't get a NTC/NMC until you are UFA eligible.
They can hand them out earlier, but they don't kick in until UFA years of their contact. |

The trade deadline allowed the Hawks to load up to the tits and it removed all competition for the cup this year..
TD day was dead this year because teams knew they had no fk'n shot at taking down the Hawks.. |

Nothing needs to be fixed. There was plenty of action before the TDL. Usually there isn't that much leading up to it. IF the Ladd, Polak, Matthias, Spaling, etc. deals happened on the trade deadline I don't think we'd be having this conversation. |

Might as well in terms of cup champ...It's a battle of who gets to be the last team to lose to them in the west and than in the final.. |

Seems like you are forgetting that the Isles picked up Shane Prince.
