Forced sucking doesn't work. Pens, Kings, Hawks, Bolts, Blues, etc sucked because they were in no pressure markets with owners who didn't give a (frank) and lucked out with good picks they couldn't go wrong with. |

It could work, but it is by no means the "only way" to build a team. The Oilers got about as lucky as a team could get to land Mcdavid on top of the other 3 1st overall picks........and they still suck. |

I think you still need proper vets to insulate youth, which I don't think the Leafs had to begin with. They did a great job getting out of some poor contracts. |
