The Vrbata signing was solid in the first season, Miller i could do without though
- phyllee

Miller signing got us in to the playoffs.
Thats doing his job.

Are you suggesting with our entire roster we can not make at least one trade to upgrade one of those three?

I seen Golfingsince comment yesterday about the last time Canucks had 11 mil in cap space we signed Mille and Vrbata.

In year two of those contracts everyone wants to trade them . Signing Hamhuis and his low point production and slowing game is the exact same thing. 3 years 4 mil is a joke. You will get more hits and points from Pedan

- VANTEL

No necessarily disagreeing with your statement as a whole, but this assumption is a big stretch (not to mention stats like hits doesnt mean a player is any good). Likewise people were penciling Tree over here and being solid in the top 6. Temper expectations, Hutton well overachieved and guys can get lucky. Weber potted double digit goals last year and was still awful

I haven't seen Pedan play in the NHL, so I don't know if he will be better.

Who would you sign with the extra cap space?

Make a big push for Stamkos n it makes our kids have better value.
Gives them more time to season in the A or be tradeable assets.
Its rare a superstar becomes available n can be built around.
The Sedins won't be around much longer.

Makes us more attractive for future players to want to come here.

I was talking defense. Vantel wants to change our entire D core over night and I'm curious to his approach on achieving this.

If we were to get Stamkos, we would have depth at centre and maybe turn that centre depth into a dman through a trade... beyond that, drafting seems like a more likely course to address our d needs, but will take some time and see some stop gaps until then.

I want Pedan in the lineup for his size and physical play, I understand he has a heavy shot so there might be some offense there, but don't think he would be in the lineup for his offense.

It is too bad we didn't sign Franson in the off season when his asking price dropped, but I don't think he's the answer to our woes either.

Hamonic would look great on our blue line... and I don't see that happening. How do we get one of those kids out of Anaheim?

In the video segment at the top, John Shannon sure sounds like the voice of reason vs. Tim & Sit's established talking points/hysteria...

D corps does need upgrading yes but Stamkos is the now almost.
D will take some time or pricey trades if even available.
Too few teams with depth r willing to move young quality D.
Cap world times make them invaluable n difficult to trade for.
I'm afraid drafting n patience is what is in store for us.
Edmonton will either show us hiw easy or hard it will be.
Took an RJ to get a Jones n thats a rare trade.
Bourdon tragedy was a huge set back.

Who do we package for something similar?

I think I flagged, srry bout that Makita.

Stamkos is likely to resign in Tampa, beyond that, I can't see why any one team would be deemed a favourite to sign him beyond just having cap space available or direction the team is headed.

We don't want the leaf trolls, but I think this is as good a place as any for open discussion on possible future free agent signings... likely the only way Stamko's will end up signing here is if his contract includes a unicorn and a field of four leaf clovers to graze on.... so there is a chance.

I'm assuming the four leaf clovers are organic and shade grown.

i agree with that. but with him unsigned this late in the season, i think the needle has moved from pipedream to plausible that he leaves.

it's impossible to say what he desires most in a team, but playing in his hometown is something only one team can offer.

Re Stamkos

Say TB resigns him then a world of hurt for other RFA'a n then its Hedman the following year. Drouin is a big chip but devaluing til he gets his crap together.

As for Stamkos moving on he would want a contender IMO.
Rules out TO.
So cap space permitting what teams r a viable option?

I was thinking genetically modified clover, or stuff grown under power lines and one of those paper cone things from cotton candy at fairs, stapled to the forehead of an old mule, just to put him in a good mood.

The my predictions are more likely than your predictions gets a bit old..

everybody wants to play here, but nobody signs here contradiction is never questioned.
