Our top 3 D point production for the last 6 years

Tanev 14 goals 48 pts. Avg 2 g 8 pts
Hamhuis 20 goals 103 pts Avg 3 g 17 pts
Edler 48 goals 177 pts Avg 6 goals 31 pts

- VANTEL

Your focus, once again, is on the wrong people. Tanev and Edler aren't the Canucks problem, it's the players they DONT HAVE that's the problem. Tanev transitions the puck to the forwards better than any dman we have, it's well documented in the analytics community.

Edler plays way too many minutes because the team doesn't have a true #1/2 guy, that's not his fault. He provides offence in spurts, his current 20 points puts him top 50 in defensemen scoring with around ten less games played.

The real issue is managements inability to add to Tanev and Edler! Sbisa, Bartkowski, Hamhuis, Biega & Weber are the crap that's not gonna improve the defense.

Edler for Hamonic would be a good start to rebuilding the "D" but it's unlikely because of Edlers full NTC. Let Hamhuis walk, he was brutal in the first 30 games this year.

i agree with that. but with him unsigned this late in the season, i think the needle has moved from pipedream to plausible that he leaves.

it's impossible to say what he desires most in a team, but playing in his hometown is something only one team can offer.

true. but how many times do you see hometown guys sign with other teams when they become ufa? Toronto is the hometown for so many good players....

Yep, full ntc though and at a discount... has to be under perfect conditions... We always hear the excuse that there is a lot of pressure and media spotlight to be the hometown boy on the hometown club.

The, he is from here, he should sign here, doesn't carry as much weight as media and fans think it should.

Whenever a hometown boy comes to Vancouver to play the Canucks, must be the same for other teams/cities, you hear about all the friends and family attending, the tickets they have to get for them, wouldn't be the same for every game if you lived there but the scrutiny and expectations must be enormous.

So once again.....

On the premise Stamkos doesn't resign where does he go?
Cap space is needed or opened up so make your case.

I'd be concerned about any team that doesn't at least kick the tires...

TSN asking that question... hmmm, the same network that gives the Marlies more coverage than most NHL teams not named the Leafs...

Buffalo has been mentioned, close to home for him but not the same media attention plus he'd be their #1 center.
