So, Steve Simmons claims (on TSN Radio the other day) that Brendan Shanahan wanted really badly to extend Cody Franson last year, but Dave Nonis talked him off the ledge.

Trolling, truth, or more likely that he got the names mixed up?

Smart money is on trolling.

Was this when he was filling in for Landsberg on Friday morning? That show is (frank)ing terrible. I gave it a chance the first week and couldn't stand it and the final straw was having Simmons fill in for him. Bring back Mike Richards in the morning.

Anything Simmons is attached to is in watchable/unlistenable

What an idiot. How are these jokers allowed to still work.

Hilarious.

You're being a bit too harsh. I think Shanny's done a pretty good job otherwise.

Can't recall exactly, but I think it was on the Brian Hayes with Two Ex NHLers Pretending to Know About Other Sports Too Show.

And yeah - Landsberg and Naylor have no chemistry at all. I imagine complete silence during commercial breaks. Didn't think Richards was much better though; his voice puts me to sleep, which isn't the best for a morning show.

I was thinking about this exact group when considering how to one up Wedgie's nomination.

So now I guess there is only one group who can "Trump" your nomination.

No one should trust a word Simmons says. He's a relic. Like John Shannon, they both try their best to remain relevant.

I just liked the imitations and comedy bits to tell the truth. I'm really not digging the new TSN lineup overall. I have to listen to 590 in the morning now but still tune into Leafs Lunch. The only reason to ever listen to Doug McLean is to confirm what players to stay the hell away from. Ex: his gushing over Russell during the deadline

Hello BINGO.

Why is has Faulk been 'day to day' for weeks? He's ruining one of my fantasy leagues.

He's more "Week-to-Week" now.

got in a collision with Brad Malone who fell awkwardly on his leg. He played once since but it was clearly still bugging him. It's one of those injuries where he could play if they needed him, but now with the season the way it is there's really no point in aggravating it further.

Don't expect him back until late next week-ish, maybe mid March.

That's the great thing with being on the left coast... even though I wake up early, these (frank)ers are already done and off the air

Just watching the Highlights (or Lowlights) from the game last night... Bernier is complete crap. His lateral movement is terrible. One cross crease/ice pass and he is done. Also, his positioning is awful. The one goal (which was a screen) he might as well have gotten out of the net because his positioning was so bad... I thought NHL goalies were supposed to have solved basic positioning issues by this point?

This team desperately needs a goalie for the future... It doesn't matter how many young guns we have. The #1 issue in my mind since Eddy (2004?) has been goal tending. Toskala, Raycroft, Aubin, Pogge, Tellqvist, Clemmensen, Cujo (2nd time), Scrivens, Gustavsson, MacDonald, Reimer, Giguere, MacIntyre, Bernier= failure

Find a friggin goalie.

my guess is it was taken out of context ... but who knows.

shanny is not infallible. but it seems like he realized nonis is an idiot and that he needed better/smarter people around him to turn this thing around.

I'll just assume Simmons meant Nonis wanted to extend him and Shanny stepped in so my opinion of him remains high.
