I'm not familiar with Mark Hunter. I just know all the talent David Conte drafted with the Devils and all the success they had and it's just strange not to allow Lou to bring him to the Leafs. - ses111
Suffice to say, the Leafs did bring in some talent. |

Agreed. Even when you have injuries, you still need to manage your roster. Play to your strengths. Doug didn't do that even when everyone was healthy. It was like Crappy 2.0. He had his system (which looked a lot like Crappy's) and he wasn't going to change for anybody. I like Doug, but he isn't a head coach. Front office material (for another team), yeah. - Isleshockeyman
Doug just seems overwhelmed. We saw how he handled the press and what happened with Shannon and all the excuses he made. I would feel better with another coach and it would further stamp Lou is in charge. |

No question hockeyman. I was just familiar with David Conte and how he kicked the Isles butt with all the players he drafted. You have to remember the Leafs were not the Leafs when Lou first got there so it only made sense to allow Lou to bring Conte with him. |

We need someone with no ties to this organization. Somebody from the outside. |

Larry Brooks did mention it was possible. Hope it happens. Again the guy has a great track record in drafting. |

You're saying Snow doesn't?
(Since this is the Isles and all their decisions have been comedic up to this point) |

Much better with this Lou news thanks hockeyman! Work is picking up a little so I might have to tell them to slow things down so I can enjoy all the Lou news. How have you been? |

Expectation is that while Mark Hunter is departing TOR, because he has time remaining on his contract, one of the conditions of his departure is that he will not be permitted to work for another team until after 2018 draft and free agency period. |

Buried. Slammed at work. I've checked in now and again and read a few posts. Assumed it was the same old, same old. And it was. At least now we have something fresh to discuss and a while new world of possibilities do bandy about (and beat to death). |

Sounds like Garth could still hold the reigns for one last draft, unless Lou handles it, since it looks like Hunter wouldn't be able to start working for the organization until late summer. |

Knowing Lou he already has ideas on his own regarding the draft. Maybe Lou has no idea on his 5th round selection, but picks in the 1st and 2nd round he might have ideas. |

Mark Hunter can start working for the Isles in August and get more done than Garth did in 12 years. |

If I'm L&M, I'm sending Snow snipe hunting in the Sahara for the draft and free agency. |

I rather see Lou bring in a new coach. I know the issues in goal and on d, but Doug had no answers and waiting until is was too late to make any changes. - ses111
Doug Weight is arguably a worse coach than Jack Capuano. The defense were all doing the same inexplicably dumb shat the entire season until they miraculously stopped when he "changed his system" when they were already out of the playoffs.
That defense being as terrible as it was had something to do with talent but a lot more to do with coaching IMO. |
