It's really easy to tear apart too:

1. Nylander is not a trade asset right now, not until he's signed; nobody wants the headache.

2. Nylander would not fetch a #1 RHD. Maybe a Faulk (not a #1 RHD), but not a Trouba. Not a knock against Nylander, but #1 RHDs are rare, expensive commodities.

3. His darling Pietrangelo made a couple of Gardiner gaffs on Saturday night; nobody here said anything, because we didn't score. Confirmation biases are deadly around here.

4. Losing an offensive weapon like Nylander makes us a two-line threat; lots of teams have two-line threats, so if we want 3 lines that can score, we need Nylander.

5. Adding a #1 RHD maybe improves us defensively (marginally, very marginally), but weakens us offensively (assuming Nylander goes), so now we're moving towards a jack-of-all-trades-master-of-none model?

Nylander is a trade asset and could be moved but hed be worth more on a long term deal. But im sure a sign and trade could easily be accepted by all parties.
Not a huge fan of AP right now, wouldnt trade willie for him.
Nor would i trade willie for faulk, faulk isnt that great.
Adding a quality rhd would greatly improve our D if used properly, outside of the past two games, our offense isnt hurting. Effort is.

what in God's name has happened to Andreas Johnnson, he looks like a totally different player?
- bluestar

Nothing.
Still the same player, just hasnt been able to finish yet.
People simply expected too much from him. Give him time.

Should've been here Saturday night: Suicide Watch was in effect.
- gravyface

Oh, the herd does need thinning. Lift the watch.

How bad was Saturday? Most of what I've read leads me to believe STL effectively shut down our top 6 and the rest of the team did Richard all.
- markmark

Pretty much.
Stay out the box, add constant pressure, be a little physical, while the leafs show little effort.
Boom, you win.
Theyll come around.

the 2 options are

Add Nylander
Add Mystery RHD

Both are big improvements to the current lineup.

- senstroll

One doesnt fill an area of need but will add more scoring depth.
The other fills a big area of need....if a young quality rhd is made available. We dont know.

Anybody find it odd how UG, who just last season, was going on about how the Leafs were 5 years away, but now all of a sudden wants to trade young players for older ones on expiring contracts and go for it?

Oh, it’s because he’s a BIG FAT YEAST INFECTED female genitalia? Carry on...

Well, I watched the whole thing (relatively sober; this is key to passing the eye test) and it was mostly lack of energy and execution, outside of the 3rd period.

Fancy stats said that we weren't bad possession wise, just didn't get off enough shots to test Jake Allen.

I blame Fortnite.

- gravyface

Fortnite legs?

Go watch some kids minor hockey, you wanna blame something on Fortnite...kids can barley do a 30 second shift. I used to dream of kids not showing up for the game so I could hog the ice...now house league kids need 4 lines to get through a game.

Slow and steady wins the race. So many games left.
Or in their case...come out really really fast, then take a 2-3 game break to catch your breath.

They were getting wins against poor opponents. That's why they lost to good teams in the league like the Blues and the Sens.

What side of that bet would you take?

Well the Sens are playing pretty well. It was a good game overall.

Stone is a god damn monster, he'd look good in a Habs uniform next year.

Or Duchene... or both....

They're still giving up a lot of shots. We'll have to see if they can try and get that down a bit, because I think they're relying on Anderson a little too much. Or maybe he'll have a bounce back year.

Stone I think they have a decent chance of re-signing. Not sure about Duchene, but at the least he's putting up a lot of points so they're high in the standings, so a deadline deal would fetch back a fair amount.
