I think you gotta grab McDavid if possible.
But Matthews is such a beast. - Arctic_AARDVARK
He is a beast, and I think he will only get better.
Nobody is McDavid though, AND McDavid is signed 2 years longer and very likely to want to stay.
I don't even think Edmonton does Nylander + Matthews for McDavid + Russell and probably not for just McDavid. |

What if Edmonton switches McDavid for MacTavish? So MacTavish and Nurse for Matthews and a date with Nylander? Oilers still say no. Matthews seems like a locker room problem. |

Nylander and Matthews for McDavid and Nurse. - Arctic_AARDVARK
Not a chance. When hockey comes back it will be softer than ever imagined.
Nurse, as much as I like him, would be phased out like Phaneuf. |

A friend of mine had suspucious symptoms after direct contact with a vector, but never confirmed.
I'm also worried about the economic, political and societal fallout of this. People get tribal when they're scared and that was already a problem before this. |

Komi and Drexel and their buds will always do their thing and will continue to be irrelevant. The vast majority are abiding by physical distancing guidelines not just to protect themselves but also out of a communal spirit. Even, the politicians are pretty much getting along.
It’s kumbaya time, mother(frank)er. |

There will be trickle down effects throughout all of what you mention.
Yeah I've heard stories of people who seem.to be sick but no tests are done. Which I think is a shame. |

Preliminary study results were just published on the 'Wuhan region of Germany' (Heinsberg).
Only 15% (max) is calculated to be infected or have been infected.
IF (and only IF) the 'once gone through infection, you're immunce for x years' hypothesis is true, it will still take a looooong period (6-12months at least) in order to get to the 60% of required 'past infection group' to get to the other hypothetical scenario of herd immunity.
If that woudl be the aim, that means as well that current death numbers will stay the same or higher during that same period - with healthcare systems completely overburdened.
We're in this for the long run unfortunately - and making the connection with NHL, the questions of whether we still have a season & playoffs shouldn't be around the current season, but on the 2020-2021 season (In my personal view, no way it's feasible that NHL can play in front of public this calender year). |

Just curious. Does Mike get permission from original articles writers to post their stuff? Cause this guy steals so many articles and almost never gives credit. |

I had always thought so too if it meant playing in NHL cities. The idea that Friedman reported they were talking about of going to North Dakota (or maybe South) where they had the facilities and playing a tournament there could be done. There was some question about living space and transportation.
North Dakota has only had 5 deaths and under 300 reported cases (based on very limited testing).
I actually think it’s a pretty irresponsible idea but when did that stop them. |

yes, it is irresponsible.
in addition, i don't think any of the broadcasting channels would want to pay more for broadcasting rights (live sports coverage right now is probably worth x 10).
so no ticket income - i wonder how the league is going to make any money out of that..?
I'm 50-50 on the NHL season 2020-2021 being able to start Oct 2020. |

North Dakota hasn't implemented distancing protocols.
When the virus hits, and it will, there hospitals will be completely overwhelmed.

An antibody test would be great. I hung out with this person before they experienced mild symptoms, and I subsequently have had mild bronchial symptoms. It's possible we both had mild cases, or something else entirely, but there's no way to know. |
