What will the new coach have to do to get the roster ready to play consistently at a winning level? How long does that take to implement and then gauge its success?
Are you confident in goal next season?
Are you confident the defense can hold up to the regular season, let alone the playoffs?
What are you expecting from the offense next year? How many quality depth players are you anticipating Adams signing?
On top of all of this, how do you see the special teams performing next season?
How does a coach come into an organization micromanaged by the owner, make the necessary changes and how does that coach maintain the new standards he wants to uphold?
The core is signed and paid, they are loyal to the GM who loves them (literally). It's unreasonable IMO to put all of that on a coach, regardless of veteran status. At the end of the day its employee vs employer, Pegula will do what he wants. - washedup20
I think this may answer every question:
I think Donny was the reason we missed this year. The bad lines, the lack of in game adjustments and our inability to beat various defensive schemes was obvious. I don't think Pegs is dictating Xs and Os, so a new coach can sway performance pretty substantially. Look at all the teams that changed mid season...and improved drastically...we can be one of those teams by changing this offseason. Donny was a huge hinderance to overall performance after teams figured out a 1-3-1 would stimey our offense entirely. That can be fixed. |

This is less offensive to me than 2 seconds and McNabb (who had just started showing promise) for Hudson (frank)ing Fasching |

Lost Cernak (ability to pick) in the trade. More grit that matters and also doesn’t suck |

You are in the majority when it comes to thinking a coaching change will be the solution this time.
Does the shine of Rod Brind'amour start to dim if he gets an early boot from the playoffs this year?

My sauce always told me McCabe preferred ranch over blue cheese, a lot of upset stomachs in Buffalo, in Toronto he gets a tub of fresh ranch delivered every wednesday...great call by the GM over the lake. |

With that roster, yeah, a bit.
But I'm not sure coaching alone will solve everything, we still need to straighten out the bottom6 and get some depth scoring again. We also need some guys to snap out of it, like Cozens and Power. However, I do think that with Rod at the helm, we would've made the show both last year and this one. He's the difference of a few wins at minimum, to me. There's half a dozen coaches I'd wager would've done the same as well. |

I'm not even sure we can say we are good at drafting, simply that we still have some high quality prospects on their way. Rosen's work on Jobst's goal yesterday was a work of art. He's really gotten stronger. Kulich is scoring again, he'll be a great addition to the PP unit on Tage's offside. Ostlund and Wahlberg look the part. Savoie has mastered juniors at least. RyJo looking good.
I get that it's hard to see the half full part, no argument, but it is there. - QuinnFan
You win in this league with your top line. With all of these prospects, who projects to be an above average 1st line guy?
That's my big question. Lot of middle six guys on a team who already has a lot of middle six guys.

And a Team that actually needs to add more Middle 6 cause we know we don't have the right middle 6 |

If healthy (big ?) - Quinn, Benson and Tage are legit L1'ers. Peterka possibly |

It's a fake need. Top line is the real concern.

Above average? That's where I question things.
Calling Benson and Quinn legit L1 seems premature. Right now, they are both middle 6 guys.

I don't think any are top line material, but you don't really know until they get a couple years in the league. Some would say Savoie has that high potential still but I just don't see it.
Those guys are already on the team with Quinn, Benny, Peterka, Tage and Tuch. Benny may be a stretch and Quinn feels like he's better off playing 2nd line, but the other three all can score 30 goals each...which I'd qualify as at least an average 1st liner. |

Don't think anything is a fake need on this Team, they need a middle six who can bring the Boom! |
