Yeah, people seemed pleased about his play. Good for him and the Leafs.
I still think he doesn't play every game. - Scabeh
He’ll start forsure. The issue is the leafs tend to get suspended in playoffs it’s just a matter of who. Maybe it’s reaves. |

He plays game one and if he's physical and becomes a menace, then he stays in. If the Bruins decide to not engage the Leafs physically, then you might see Robertson or Jankrok instead. The Leafs have options.

Of course. Bob and Vasi are another level I agree.
But Boston still has the edge in net in that series, on paper at least. - Scabeh
I don't think we should be questioning that Boston has an edge in net. They do.
An interesting thing is that breaking the season down into 2 month segments and looking at each team over that time, shows that the Bruins overall play has been sliding a bit and the Leafs, while we're all very critical, has actually been improving:
Oct 1 - Nov 30 (Bos: 15-4-3; Tor: 12-6-3)
Boston: xGF: 2.78 / xGA: 2.47 // GF: 2.83 / GA: 1.86
Toronto: xGF: 2.75 / xGA: 2.82 // GF: 2.52 / GA: 2.81
Specific goalie GSAx:
Swayman: 9.08
Woll: 7.53
Ullmark: 5.88
Samsonov: -5.22
Dec. 1 - Jan 31 (Bos: 16-5-6; Tor: 13-8-5)
Boston: xGF: 2.65 / xGA: 2.62 // GF: 2.9 / GA: 2.03
Toronto: xGF: 2.86 / xGA: 2.61 // GF: 2.72 / GA: 2.23
Specific goalie GSAx:
Swayman: 6.86
Ullmark: 6.47
Jones: 6.18
Woll: 1.3
Samsonov: -3.37
Feb 1 - now (Bos: 16-11-6; Tor: 21-11-2)
Boston: xGF: 2.54 / xGA: 2.64 // GF: 2.4 / GA: 2.19
Toronto: xGF: 2.98 / xGA: 2.48 // GF: 3.5 / GA: 2.44
Specific goalie GSAx:
Ullmark: 9.27
Swayman: 6.84
Samsonov: 2.84
Jones: 0.03
Woll: -0.26
Most of Toronto's gains are on the offensive side of things - where the xGF and GF numbers improve month-over-month to a pretty impressive 3.5. In fact in the past couple of months Toronto's 5v5 defense has been a little better at suppressing the big chances against, sporting a better xGA than Boston has had. Toronto has failed to produce consistent goaltending at all this year - when the xGA improves the actual goals against doesn't necessarily follow suit.
But to your point - if you are going to say anything going into this series - Boston has had consistently better goaltending than Toronto all season. |

Anyone know when the leafs/bruins game would start? I know playoffs start Sat but there was a couple people saying if they played florida it wouldn’t start til Monday. - bryant
There's a Celtics game scheduled for Sunday, April 21 at 1 pm, so that probably means Saturday afternoon game 1.
At least that's what I am guessing. |

Just franking around on the Scotiabank Arena website:

If the Leafs beat Boston and Tampa beats Florida, 2nd series might get delayed because Stars on Ice and Death Cab for Cutie are booked on May 3rd and May 4th. |

Did he say that about Boston?
I guess it's faster/easier to convert hockey -->basketball than basketball-->hockey. |

Yes, and normally they would want to start Game 1 on the Saturday night, but Death Cab for Cutie is already booked. |

Yeah I think he was speaking mostly to Florida.
But also he was on overdrive and a friend was saying that the NHL wanted Leafs and another Canadian team right after them on Saturday and have the rest of the NHL start Monday. |

I remember last year they had the opportunity to have the Leafs play game 3 FLA on a friday and Saturday and it was Sunday because of the Grand Prix and Heat....
they moved up the playoffs date for a reason...Likley to get 2 Canadian teams on Saturday, I am sure scheduling between the NBA and NHL has already planned for this.
The NBA likely wants more priority down the road but NHL has all of its viewership in the 1st round.
Just looked on google. Don't think Celtics have all their games scheduled yet but they are Sunday(H), Wednesday(H) and Saturday(A)
So leafs Saturday(A) Monday(A) Thursday(H) Saturday(H)
CJ talked about how NHL wanted Leafs game 1 Saturday and Leafs at home next Saturday. Looks like they got it with how the Celtics are scheduled. |

They should have no problem having a 7pm game on the 20th, then.
