I understand that once an undrafted player reaches the age of 20 he can be signed as a free agent. So if that’s correct it wouldn’t make much sense to draft him.

Hmmm... so wonder why Becher is listed as being in the draft this year and is on the Central Scouting rankings

No clue but I could be wrong about when a junior player is eligible to be a free agent. If he is a free agent it seems unlikely a team wouldn’t have already signed him with the numbers he put up this season.

Several examples to back up your facts, like Boston sponsoring Orr’sParry Sound peewee team to get Orr’s rights.
- LAHawk

The Oshawa Generals were the Bruins junior team and Orr actually chose to "sign" with the Generals after he turned down the Leafs and Habs choices.

While I don’t have a favourite per se, and trust whatever KD and his staff do if Eiserman’s defensive play is below average that will have to be factored in. Bedard is already a below average defensive player. That said you can’t teach scoring and Eiserman is probably the best pure scorer in the draft. But as I look around at other guys I see holes in all their games. While I had envisioned Lindstrom as the choice I’ve read about some concerns about his hockey IQ. I’ll leave it to KD to make the best choice.
- paulr

eiserman is going to BU for next season. That is a top program and they will get to work on his flaws. Its a great program for him. You just can't teach natural goal scoring talent and Eiserman is 3 goals away from breaking Cole Caufield's record with USNT

If you're watching or anyone, how's Eisermans compete level?
- BetweenTheDots

Plays like he mad at the world at times but is said to be inconsistent at times. Like I mentioned to paul, BU is a program that has had its fair share of talented players and will work on his shortcomings. That is where Vlasic played, BTW

The Bruins Wren Blair signed Orr to an amateur contract with the Generals who were a Junior team of the Bruins. Blair was able to get him by offering to buy a car and stucco the Orr’s house to get the parents to sign for the 13 year old Bobby.

Orr was noticed by the Boston Bruins in the spring of 1961, playing in a youth hockey tournament in Gananoque, Ontario.[14] The Bruins' Wren Blair described him as "a combination of Doug Harvey and Eddie Shore."[15] The Bruins immediately pursued Orr. Blair made regular visits to the family home.[16] In the fall of 1961, the Bruins invested CA$1,000 (CA$9,019 in 2021 dollars[17]) to sponsor his minor hockey team.[2] Although three other NHL teams (Toronto Maple Leafs, Detroit Red Wings, and Montreal Canadiens) were interested in Orr, he signed in 1962 with the Bruins.[18] Orr explained that he signed with the Bruins because "they're a team of the future. They're rebuilding and I want to be part of that building program."[15]

TBH, I really don’t care whom they draft, but you can’t tank like they did this year and miss on the pick. That being said they’re drafting top four, so they should grab a good player. Looks like the Bolts are going to win their game, now let’s go Bruins!

Apparently Blair went to the tournament to scout another player.

If the Leafs go out this round I’d guess Shanahan will be canned and the coaching staff not far behind. Then they’ll have to rethink the makeup of the team.

The Generational talent was a ghost last game. He hit a few guys and battled for positioning and pucks the previous game, I’m guessing he didn’t really have the appetite to play that way the last game. And Marner is just plain scared when the going gets rough. I hope KD factors in the playoff potential in the prospects he is reviewing, I don’t want to see regular season superstars like Matthews or Marner on Chicago.

You don't want a player like Matthews on the Hawks?

Back then the Junior 'A' hockey league in Ontario was known as the OHA. The Bruins had 2 farm teams in that league - the Oshawa Generals and the Niagara Falls Flyers.

And from the N.F. Flyers came a ton of NHL players - Derek Sanderson, Don Marcotte, Gilles Marotte, Rick Ley, Phil Roberto.

My goodness the Leafs are struggling. You can tell they are playing to not make a mistake. Very tentative and unsure. Also, Marner is almost invisible in this game.

Reminds me of Reichel early this year, lots of outside play and losing board battles.

My Uncle lived in St. Catherines in the late 60s early 70s. He went to the Memorial cup in 1971 when the Guy Lafleur led Quebec Remparts played Marcel Dionne’s St. Catherines Blackhawks. There were hundreds of minutes in penalties in the games. The crowd in St. Catherines threw frogs on the ice and the Quebec crowd threw golf balls and other things at the St. Catherines players. Dionne’s parents were assaulted in Quebec because they brought Marcel to Ontario to play his junior hockey. The violence was so bad St. Catherines forfeited the series rather than going back to Quebec. Crazy times!

Well, they were just booed off the ice. The Leafs issue is team construction, can’t compete in the playoffs with soft players and not enough talent on the backend.

HNIC just showed a breakdown of where the shots are coming from. Two or three shots from the middle and the rest from outside. Their star players just can’t bring their games up in the playoffs.

As I said before, I hope KD drafts guys who can play when things get tough. I don’t want to see a team of dainty lavender sniffers, where the coach has to ensure the dressing room has incense and peppermints.
