The media wants it. The fans demand it.

Trade. That. Pick!

- TheSabresTaco

Some of these ideas are atrocious. I'd prefer to use the 17 prospects already ready to make the jump. Too much in this draft that we could use. Kulich, Rosen, etc. might be more enticing to some teams as well.

The obsession with Draft picks (not the actual player) the pick itself is insane.

So you want to trade a guy like Kulich to then draft a guy you hope shows the same promise as Kulich but just sets the timeline back.

I was told this draft is really strong though.
Like guys you get in the late teens would go top 5 in other drafts.

What promise has Kulich shown? He can score in the AHL? He does not look to be a center in the NHL, hes not a 200 foot player. Hes nothing we really need IMO. To me I dont see it. Some here do but I disagree. Maybe he entices another team since hes already an established AHL player ready to make the jump.

Theres some good looking centers and RHD in the top 15. 2 positions we need dearly.

No.

Maybe stretching a tad.

But shocking I keep hearing “the top 11” (shocking that that I the cutoff) are studs.

What really boosts a system is finding mid round picks to develop for several years.

So far outside round 1

Komarov
Novikov
Neuchev
Wahlberg
Kozak
Strbak
Ratzlaff
Poltapov
McCarthy

Are/will fill in the system nicely. Then there's the Rosen, Kulich, Ostlund, Savoie pile on top with Benson already here.

The system stays strong with or without 11.

Sidenote, it's funny no one complains about Benson's height anymore.

Just for him to sign elsewhere

If he wants to come sign him day 1 of UFA. No need to use an asset for another Vesey situation.

The post stated if a Conversation had been had and a Contract was talked about. IF that was the case I have No problem giving them a 2nd for the rights.

Was a rule not made in the last few years so you aren't allowed to do that anymore?

Sabresmetrix made a good point:

This draft is not as strong as last year or 2025, 11OA isn't the premium chip some are thinking it is. Taco may be pretty spot on with his evaluations of what the return would be.

- QuinnFan

Im not gunna listen to some twitter handle about if he thinks the draft is strong or not. There's notable people out their to take the opinions of.

I never like going by 'strength of draft'. It means little. What it looks like this year is that you can pick a guy between 2 and 15 and they might all become the same caliber of player.

Is that "strong"? Or maybe just balanced. 11 is 11 is 11 and you're getting a premium player. What he turns into is anyone's guess, but on June 28th 2024, he's a great player.

Getting a Zach Benson, as some will undoubtably complain about, is about a 0.5% chance. Having an 18 year old start in the NHL outside the top... what.. 4 or 5? Is almost unheard of. Cole Sillinger did it too.

Well as the original post stated that it was mutual between Tampa and Stamkos he wasn't coming back. SO he was allowed to talk

I thought they made a rule a couple years back where you couldn't talk to any opposing teams players until a trade was made. Even if the teams agreed beforehand. I tried looking it up but i see nothing.

Might be a little deeper, but the high end talent is lesser IMO. There's a drop offs at pick 4, pick 9 and somewhere in the late teens. I think you can move those numbers back to pick 5, pick 15 and somewhere in the late 20s last year. 2025 looks wild though.

I isn't completely against trading this years pick. It just better be the right trade.

I think you can get a kid this year that will "fall", not because they're bad but because they're so much choice in the top 13-15 after #1. Demidov should go ealry but could fall like Michkov due to being Russian.

3 forwards could "fall" to us at 11 that I really like in Catton, Tij and Helenius. IMO Tij and Helenius will be the better complete players of the 3.

You've got 5-6 d-men that could potentially be the best D in the draft. Levshunov seems to be a lock to be selected the highest but Buium, Richardinson, Silyaev, even Yakemchuk look to all be high-end. I even forgot about Parekh

If Ottawa forfeits their pick this year, we could offer 11th and Savoie for Tkchuck

You guys keep saying 11th overall and 3C, well Kadri in Calgary is exactly that. 11th overall and Samuelsson for Kadri and Weegar

11th overall for Couture and 14th overall

11th, Jokiharju for Bennett, Verhaeghe

11th, Savoie for Cirelli, Paul (Stamkos resigns in Tampa).

A lot of options

- Jet Jaguar BD

You know this how exactly? They are only options in the Sabres thread on Hockeybuzz.

Whys everyone think Ottawa would love to give us Tkachuk? Doubt they move in in the division.

Kadri and Weegar are old and cost to much for to long.

Is San Jos holding Celery as well? Im not paying a 35 year old Coture 8million to suck for 3 more years.

Bennett and Verhage is maybe the most realistic. But they're bot rentals. Might be able to resign Bennett but Verhage is going to get some dough in FA if he keeps it up.

I highly doubt Tampa moves Cirelli to keep an aging Stammer.
