I don't think they ask JT at all. My guess is they want to resign him as a cheap 3C option when his contract is up.

I don't agree. If he stays at all, it will be as a 3rd line winger. His days of being able to handle duties up the middle are almost, if not already, at an end. He just does not have the footspeed, and it's only going to get worse.

Getting him a cheap extension this summer would help take some heat off him.

Would not shock me with Mitnen and Cowan both pushing for spots. I think they add C in FA as well.

If we could somehow make McCabe our 4th best D, we'd be in good shape.
I just dont think there will be enough space this off season.

He is still an effective center defensively; he was still very good up against Pasta's line in the series, as besides the game-winner, Pasta was invisible to the point that his coach called him out on it.

JT has always been slow, and I'd say his footspeed has actually improved since he's been here, but that doesn't affect his ability to dig pucks out of the corner and move it out; he's probably better than Kampf at that.

He's nowhere near an 11M player, but JT on a team-friendly 4x4 contract as our 3C would be fine.

O'Dog yesterday said that from a player's perspective, if a team comes to you and tells you that you are not in their plans, and would you like to pick a place to go, you basically want out asap. It makes sense. No one really wants to be somewhere they are not wanted. A lot of speculation that this gets asked of both JT and Marner.
