Zeev Buium, LHD, Denver

His trade is the Habs 5th OA for CGY 9th OA and Van 1st (2024) who should be between 29th and 32nd.

It's an ideal scenario really.

Doubt this is what happens in real life, but I like the idea.

Don't like the return though, too risky

You only make that move if you're convinced your guy (or one of the guys) you want will still be there.

We see the forwards as prime targets because that's what we need but plenty of teams in the top 10 will target defensemen because they will be the BPA on their list.

Richardinson will get picked fast, so will Buium. Then you got Silayev that teams have in high regard.... only need 1-2 teams to not get your guy and you're good.

the only reason to do that would be if they already have a deal in place to flip the pick for a player, like they did for Dach. otherwise they don't need another pick.

I still don't see the trade for Zegras happening.

I don't think he is plan A, I could see them prefer Necas or Lundell. Both pending RFA's with their team having no cap space and other players to resign.

Florida needs draft picks and prospects...Lundell could be a real possibility IMO.

Necas would be my preference but I am not sure about the cost.

I'm not a fan of Necas. He's a fine 2nd line player but I don't see the same upside as Zegras as far as pure abilites goes.

Lundell is pretty good but I don't think he's an upgrade at centre over Dach so he'd basically be our third line centre moving forward.

I didn’t watch it.

Did see that the winner paid 18-1 I believe.

And the favourite finished 16th’ish?

If there ever was a sport that was fixed..

Most teams would rejoice in getting a great defenseman like Richardinson.

draft Lindstrom at 5,
then deal for another big top6 forward. maybe not this summer, could be next year. could even be a UFA at that point.

Lidstrom / Dach / Slaf as a line.

That is a lot of (frank)ing beef.

If Lindstrom is available at 5. I'm almost certain he's their guy.

Thing is, not convinced he will be.

So... not gonna share that beef with Newhook-Suzuki-Caufield to even things out?

Slaf is staying with Suzuki-Cole imho.
