Maybe we should adopt the Sabres plan? How about Ottawa? Arizona? Montreal? Maybe NJ? Even Toronto? Creating a loosing culture doesn’t breed success. Let us know tho
- Fopa21

More success rebuilding the right way than what the Flyers do. The Flyers current method has worked for just about no one lol

There are obviously some things wrong in Toronto but Marner is not one of them.
- MJL

How is Marner not a problem in toronto when he doesnt play playoff hockey very well. He is definitely part of the problem

Of course he is. But the guy is a serious talent…you just hope it starts to click for him more when it matters…I’m not so sure I would move him unless it’s a “hockey” trade. I know the fan base wants to run him out of town….but they don’t make those decisions.

I would personally feel that an expectation of Frost imposing himself on the game is unrealistic. That is a trait of a first line all star players or higher. Frost is one of the top offensive and defensive forwards on the team. When he on the ice, the Flyers score the highest percentage of goals on the team among forwards. His shot quality, puck possession, scoring chances generation is all among the highest on the team. He is the best PP producer on the team. Best player maker and a leader in primary assist rates. One of the best defensive forwards on the team. A player doesn't put up those numbers if he is invisible at the rate that many say he is. All the signed are there that he is a player.

All that being said, I agree I would like him to be a more consistent point producer and not have stretches like he had a the end of the season. A big part of that though is for the coach to stop screwing with him.

- MJL

how exactly did the coach screw with him towards the end of the season?

The coaches did permanent damage? What are you even talking about? 😂

If a coach can ruin a player permanently then guess what? that player was never very good 😂

The dude has played 57 post season games
He has played in the post season every year of his nhl career, 8.

"You hope" it clicks? If it hadn't already it won't.

Combined He and JT tied Knies in post season goals this season.

Did you watch the series? He played well. The whole team had trouble solving Swayman.

do you think a change is needed or do you run it back with tweaks?

Marner and Tavares hold the cards right now. If they are willing to be traded I would definitely gauge value.

If Marner gets the Leafs a top pair young d-men that would make sense.

I don't see Marner, Matthew, Tavares or Nylander going anywhere.

I think they look to upgrade the goaltending and the defense. Try to build around the edges with the forwards.

Honestly a low maintance guy like Laughton would be a nice pick up for them. Plays all around the lineup. Plays in all situations. Can put him on that 3rd line. Just not sure who TOR would move to make it work

- J35Bacher

With what cap space are they going to upgrade at d and G? They can't without restructuring their roster.

How many years does Marner want for his next contract, Friedman says 8. Toronto can play hardball and tell him he is not getting it to try to force a trade. He also said Marner's agent won't do any contract negotiations until his current contract is up.
- WhiskeyMan

Marner has the leverage. Toronto can play hardball all they want. It won't work. He is a max term player in this league.

Fire the coach, see if JT is willing to move, tweak around the edges, play out the next season, evaluate from there.

What is "invisible" to you?
- mickel25
Invisible to me is the fact that his name is rarely called during the game. Like, you don't even know that he is on the ice...never around the puck and so on. Back to the original subject...Sanheim is another one that to me simply doesn't have the fire in his belly to be what he could be. He just doesn't have that mean streak that a defender his size should have. Just my opinion of course.

There's a lot of money coming off their cap this summer. They have about $18-19M to play with.

He has 50 points in 57 playoff games. Yet some say he doesn't play well in the playoffs. I get the expectations of a star players but the issue with the Leafs is not Marner. If they think it is, then they're fools.

Agree. But I am not just moving Frost because I want to. It would have ot make sense.

Some seem to just want to move him.

- J35Bacher
I don't wanna just move him. I'd like to possibly can someone in a similar situation in return (preferably a center) that may just need a change of scenery. Who that is? I dunno...

I hope they don't make a single change. Also, why would they, the rink is always full and they play well in the Regular season..

So you listen to the play by play to judge a player? Not surprising. This needing to have a mean streak is old school neanderthal. You simply want a player to compete and Sanheim does that.

Did anyone see Button's mock after the lottery?

He says Demidov is better than Michkov and says the Flyers will pick Jett Luchanko at #12.

Button really hates the Flyers.

- MBFlyerfan
He's one of those stodgy Canadian turds that still hates the Flyers from the 1970's cause they were bullies. Some folks just have lots of trouble moving on for some reason.

They don't have a lot in terms of assets. Most likely they go the UFA route for improvements.

they all hold the cards with the NMC. No one ever talks about moving reilly out. Maybe he should go as well?

As usual, you take things the wrong way. Yeah, I don't watch the game...I just listen to it. What does that even mean? The way you defend Frost makes me think that he's your little brother or something. Again, I think I've watched and played enough hockey to know what I'm looking at. I guess you and I have a different definition of mean streak. I'm not asking for Sanheim to fight or rip someones head off every game. I just think he gets pushed off the puck too much for someone his size. He even knows that as apparently he did bulk up last summer. Hopefully he will do it again this summer! Look at the best defenses in today's game when things get serious. Big defenses with long reaches and physicality. That will never change.

I think their only option for next year is to fire the coach and tweak. JT can't be unloaded. Marner doesn't want to go. They can anoint Woll as the started and pray he's the second coming of Dryden. The year after they might have some ability to sign a UFA but they're in a pickle with Marner. Re sign him at big money or beg him to allow you to trade him.
