Love the kid.
Knew from the first game of the season he was going to be the real deal. The way he glides around on the ice creating opportunities is something not many in the league can do on a consistent basis, especially at an age like his.
The team needs to do whatever they can to ensure he's playing at the UC for a long, long time. |

He is just a joy to watch and his enthusiasm is infectious.
It will be interesting to watch his development and see what it will take for the Hawks to wrap him up next year. He may very well grow to be as important a core member as anyone on the team.

John, can you speak a little to your thoughts on how much of Panarin's success you feel is attributable directly to playing with 88, vs how much is is own ability? In other words, what do you project as his ceiling apart from Kaner? |

There was a great sequence on the NBC Sports after game that had the Hawks controlling the puck for over a minute before Panarin scored that first goal. I thought it was crazy during the game but when they showed it afterwards it was just incredible. |

You could argue, the Hawks were a smidge lucky to escape Consol Energy Arena with 2 points Tuesday night.
Fixed. And there's no doubt they were lucky to get 2 points. The 'burgh outplayed them most of the game and the refs very well could have called the Hawks for too many men in overtime. Good teams find a way to win those types of games however, and this team seems to be finding their stride once again. |

Also, is it just me, or does Panarin remind you of the youngest "brother" from Good Will Hunting? Hah...ok, never mind. |

Playing with 88 doesn't hurt, but IMO 90-95% of what he does is based on his ability. And he will get better, with or without Kane.
He is a point per game player minimum. |

Is the AK72 line the hawks #1 line now...i know heresy with a guy named Toews on your team.
What about if the Hawks can solve the LW problem for less cost in both $$ and pick/propects and have that guy play with kane and move 72 up with hossa/toews.
I know the what's up with 81 discussion has been ongoing for awhile. But he continues come up empty on great chances. Mees think their something else going on than bad karma. |

Also, I was at the game last night and Gustafsson got tossed in the corners a few times. Felt bad for the kid getting laid out so many times, but he hung in there and had a solid night. Rozsival on the other hand, yikes the infamous "three-wheeled shopping cart" might have lost another wheel. |

Wow... If so he will be hard to sign...
But he is also closer to his ceiling having played in the pros for a couple years than the OHL/college guys... |

This. I know him thinking pass first to Kane during the streak was driving everyone crazy, myself included, but I just love this guys attitude. I had to smile big when Kane set him up that one game in the third to notch an assist and keep the streak alive and Panarin pointed to him and in his best english said "ASSIST!"
There really is something infectious about his energy and enthusiasm. I am smitten, agree with everyone else the Hawks brass needs to find a way to keep this guy around for the rest of his career. |

Its called age..
I keep hearing Dano's not impressing at the Rock. Neither did Danault in a few games this year. Hossa's not going to be your 1LW for long so maybe for a month they try TT and Dano with 19 to see if there's anything before having to pull the trigger at the TDL. Couldn't hurt. |

He's a gem. Lost trtack of how many times he's kept pucks onside in the o-zone - plays that Rozy or TVR would never make. Another amazing find. |

Crosby should take notes from Toews on how to stick up for your teammates. Loved seeing 19 go after Tanger at the end. Oh an LeTang, nice work. Takes a real man to to finally try to lay a big hit when the game is lost. |

Let's hope Crosby's time with the "C" for team Canada has come to an end. Toews clearly deserves that honor now, even more than before. |

I know it's sacrilege to criticize Toews and Hossa here but here we go...
Is it just me or are those two taking a lot more lazy/dumb penalties than normal? I'm not talking about "whoops, accidental high stick" or "good penalties," so to speak. Seems like this year Hossa is getting called for a lot of hooking penalties after getting caught on the wrong side of a guy.
Toews leads the team in PIM and has basically matched his total from last year (34 vs 36). He just seems like he's playing frustrated, and that frustration is turning into out of character penalties for him.
I'm sure plenty of people will point out the fighting majors he's had which add to that total and how it's part of "muh intangibles" to fire up the team, but let's get real, here. He's not the highest paid player in the league to brawl or play the tough guy. |

Crosby is made of glass. If he sticks up for a teammate he'll be out for 4 weeks, minimum. |
