If they can find a way to unload Jarry and Graves via draft capital instead of absorbing cap hit, that'd be great. And I mean "Graves + pick for career minor leaguer" kinda stuff.
I think you can unload Jarry to another team without having to cough up extra. You may get nothing in return but there are teams out there that will always need to take a chance on a goalie who has not-outrageous term. |

His contract is almost certainly gonna be 8.7 million |

No one is taking Graves contract unless Pens add a #1 pick to unload him. Every GM sees what Pensfans see he is bad..very bad |

Or other organizations see the Penguins as a team with little or no direction.

I think the only way to unload him is swapping him for another bad contract. I’ve brought up Gaudreau as an example. I think that contract is significantly worse than Graves though.
Graves for Gaudreau ($2 mil retained) and Texier. |

His drop in play Could be a result of Columbus. Their system or his teammates meshing with him. I’d say he’s more of a playmaker though and that’s not what this team needs. Got enough passers. In 10 years he’s had:
40 goal season - once, prob more due to his line mates. IMO an outlier
30 goal season twice - possible depending on the lines overall capabilities and pp.
every other season has been between 18 and 24 goals, including only 12 of last years 60 points.
He was good though in Calgary on their top line. And he can put up points still even in cbus. Sid needs a finisher though who can play off the cycle.
Graves for gadreau 50% retained sure. I’d rather go after laine depending on what issues he’s having if we were getting rid of rakell.
I think rakell will be a good bounce back candidate though. |

I wish cbus was our farm team. Voronkov, Jenner, marchenko would be a beastly 3rd line and texier would be perfect for the 4th with doc and pulj. Depth done ✔️ |

Time to stop trading picks to clear out cap space. Moving Graves and using that money in UFA isn't going to make us a contender. |

Glad to see they are interested in signing Petterson early. Was worried they'd pull a Guentzel on him.
If EK's list represents our best options at LW, ouch. Guentzel and Stamkos would seem to go against the reasons they traded Jake, though I'd welcome either. We know what Jake can do, and Stamkos would be that top RH shot for the PP while providing some center depth in case of injury.
Beyond that... Noesen? Drouin, Bertuzzi, Mantha as bounce back candidates.
Would we be comfortable trying a bounce back with DOC as plan B or go bigger for Guentzel or Stamkos? |

Bringing G back is the best thing we can do but until I see an explicit report saying the Pens are front runners to resign him I am dismissing that as fantasy land.
Don’t seeing us being in play for Stamkos.
What I always say is that UFA is where hopes and dreams go to die. What I think we should do is not rely on free agency at all and find a high value trade for a middle six LW to push DOC for his current spot. Basically exactly what we did to bring in Smith but not strike out this time.
Beyond that, yeah we’d have to settle on a bounce back candidate. |

Difference is JG can still play and if he got on a good team he would excel again but he chose Columbus. Graves just stinks and is still gonna stink. That would be a totally one sided trade in Pens favor |

Rumor from an Ellport Bar: CHEF Carter and Bruce Boudreau will be part of our coaching staff for next season. |

Boudreau would be a knock out hire. Can’t do any better for a coach in waiting if Sullivan is ever axed.
Carter tracks. Was wondering if he’d be given the Cullen treatment after he announced he’s staying in the burgh. |

Seems accurate on the face of it but he's played well for some orgs and coaches. Ava traded Bynum so maybe to them, take someone expensive they don't want off their roster, and a good pick goes to the Avs.
I'll agree unlikely but it's not impossible. It's more possible than him playing better for Sully. |

Yeah it’s pretty bleak. I agree with grinder for the most part on Jake but he’s honestly the best option. I just can’t see stammer going to ufa. After that it’s a bunch of 3rd liners.
