I think we see one more minor move on D and that's it for the off season. I hope no one was seriously getting their hopes up for Shattenkirk.
Drop a D man for a pick and lets see what we've got in camp. Fleece someone at the deadline if we're out of the playoff hunt. Otherwise I don't see the need to make any major moves right now. |

Good write up. I'd love Shattenkirk, but in no way involving Simmonds in any package. He is just too valuable at this point. I also don't think that it would be worth the prospects, especially since Hextall has said that he wants to develop players. Trading the house for Shattenkirk reeks more of a Holmer move than Hextall. |

NO WAY I'd trade Simmonds,Gost and a 1st, possible lottery, for Shattenkirk ! He's not worth that much |

I know a lot of people here don't like Big Buff, but that is a guy I would target. Streit would be a good fit in Winnipeg. He could QB that power play, they have a big Dman in Myers, and they won't let Buff walk for nothing at end of season. Streit has an extra year left. Don't know what it would take to get him but it would be less than Shattenkirk |

any news on gustafsson? last i read he wanted to return to the nhl and the flyers still held his rights; they also seemed to have little interest in bringing him back with the proverbial defensive logjam the team has. |

i wouldn't mine seeing him here but my only concern is that he would lead the league in minor penalties wearing the o&b |

I'm content with our D as it stands now...as someone else posted, let's see how things shake out during camp. The only roster move that needs to be addressed, IMO, is finding a dumping ground for Vinny. |

Schenn bros laughton hagg or ghost (tho id reconsider the first if he was involved) 2016 1st. Shattenkirk addresses a huge hole in our D. He's young and is entering his prime along with G voracek simmonds. He would be a great asset for not only D but that first pass to those guys. I would try and make tgis deal if it's possible. Simmonds is absolute deal breaker though. |

Shattenkirk is an incredible defenseman. In order to get a rare dman like him you have to give some stuff up. The league is loaded with forwards who do what Simmonds, Schenn, Read, and the rest of our forwards do.
Giroux and Voracek are the only 2 that stand out. To build a solid back line you have to give up something. |

As the roster stands now, Simmonds is the only forward we have that consistently plays with an edge - I don't think he should be moved. |

The biggest problem with guys that do what those guys can do, is who's available. Who is available that can do what Simmonds does? To replace a guy like Simmonds is going to cost you something more too. You lose Simmonds, you are going to have to trade for someone else. I don't see anyone that we are developing that can step into that role right away. |

Correction: Forgot to mention White, who plays with an edge, too, albeit minus the offensive upside of Simmonds. |

Rather would just stand pat.
The season to make big moves is next year, predominantly in FA with a much more promising class.
Love Giordano, and was looking to make a run at him hopefully, but the demands seem to be insane. |

I don't see ghost becoming a steady nhl player . Def not a top 4. Hope I am wrong time will tell.
Not all will pan out and he will be the bust. |

I didn't read where StL was offering us Shattenkirk for Simmonds and a package. Why does it seem to be etched in stone in these discussions?
Admittedly, a deal for Shattenkirk would most likely take a bite out of our future, and we do have a health supply of young D in the pipeline, but I'd still kick the tires to see what I'd have to offer to grab someone like him.
As it stands, all we have are D prospects, nothing more. If I'm able to open a dialogue for a proven player like him, I'm all for it. |

Not all will pan out and he will be the bust. - rinaldo Bust is a strong word. I see him as num 4 pp specialist. Alot of people are down on him because of his lost season. The kid has a pretty decorated back round and had tremendous hype.

Why is it a strong word ? The way he is hyped by flyers fans. I myself have never been that high on him

My concern with Ghost is his size and durability. |

I'm kind of astounded. Provorov. Sanhiem.Ghost. Morin.
Why exactly does this team need to move a key piece of its dominant power play, a 1st round pick(likely in the top 20) and a high end Defensive prospect for Kevin Shattenkirk? Great player sure. But I'd rather see a cup run than the something shiny du jour. |

In 4 years, we'll have 2 Shattenkirks. Sanhiem and Provorov are going to be really good players. No use unloading future to solidify the present when the window of opportunity isn't for another few seasons.
Secondly, you know G and Jake don't play defense right? Your phrasing is shaky at best. |
