There is absolutely no scenario where drouin is better defensively than rnh at this point. (Or potentially ever). So much context and caveats needed with that contention
Case in point of the massive flaws advanced stats bring to the table |

Drouin is so overrated... |

RNH is miles ahead of Drouin on both sides of the puck O and D...that said, it would be nice to see Drouin play a full season and see what is there.
Today Drouin is worth a 2 x 2nd round picks at best, based on his history...problem is Yzerman has to trade for his potential.

Huge potential for offence, Pretty electric. but he hasn't done much as a pro.
At this point, yakupov is even more proven.
Either way, I probably wouldn't even argue that much if someone tried to sell drouins offensive potential over nuges. A case could be made I guess.
But defensively ? No chance. |

Well said, all of it
I certainly won't argue that drouin is the cheaper option and might even be more worth the risk for the jets.
But beyond that....

key word is potential.... if he can't produce on the Lightning playing sheltered minutes that's very telling. |

Trouba for RNH straight up is a fair hockey deal. |

The rumour mill speculates that the Jets may have interest in Nail Yakupov the LW from Edmonton who has never lived up to the hype as a first overall draft pick.
FYI, Yakupov is actually a RW while he has played LW at times, if you want him to be successful you play him on the right side. |

I agree. I'm not sure it would happen but that would make some one else on the Jets with a very good deal expendable. |

I'd consider this
Essentially top 3 and yaks + a 3.5 dump for 2 years
Trouba and bottom 5 first rounder
Interesting deal actually. Pretty Big price to pay, but that salary dump is enticing |
|
|
|
If Trouba is going to be traded I hope it is only considered for RNH or if the Oil win the lottery and then its Mathews. Absolutely no way I'm trading Trouba in a deal where the main piece coming back is Drouin or Yak!!
One trade I'd like today is Perrault and our later first rounder (Chicago's first) to Anaheim for one of their young D. |

Jets get hosed there. No way. Do that draft over and Trouba might be in the top 3 now. |

Totally agree. If the Oilers wouldn't jump all over Trouba for RNH, then they are clued out.
A young, top-pairing dman who's only getting better for a player they can do without. |

Matthews and yaks
Trouba and say no higher than 25th.
But You need to eat salary for 2 seasons on a 6-7 defender
I don't think it's that egregious by any stretch. Maybe I guess |

add what or how much? because honestly I wouldn't be interested then. If your re-doing trouba's draft he may very well go first overall so why do you figure we are adding for RNH? As for Mathews, ya ok, maybe I'm adding our late first rounder or our 2nd rounder but no way I'm trading Trouba and our first ( which might be top 5 ) to move up to number one.
honest question, if RNH and trouba are both made available to all teams, who do you think gets more attention? I say trouba in a heartbeat!! |

Solid post
Tough to to argue
I'd push for an add. But nothing too significant
Nuge and a 3rd

That's a trade the Oilers of course would do, but that's why it would never happen. |

The big question is would he resign and what is he really looking for in terms of $$$
If we would be able to sign him to a Klefbom equivalent type contract I think I would be ok with not having to add anything with Nuge. We just really need to improve our Dcore |

I'd assume you sort that out before u pull the trigger
I'd be cool with a semi bridge.
A few more bucks- but a little extra term.
4.5-5/ 3 or 4 years
Pretty hesitant if in fact he wants that 6 for long term |
