If the NHLPA truly cares about player safety and truly wants a solution to the concussion issue they need to get this guy out of the NHL. They look like hypocrites by allowing him in the union when he goes around doing head shots all the time then members of the NHLPA turn around and sue the NHL because of concussions caused by players like him.

If the NHL would just allow the players to police themselves again, all would be well in this world.

This. Where is a three strikes rule? If I am a player I am pleading with my union to take players like this out of the game for my own safety and career (Rinaldo is not the only reckless player). As for policing themselves, that didn't work all that well either and the extremely violent past (it is actually becoming much less violent) of the sport is evidence. One solution is stricter enforcement where your career is on the line, not just sitting out. Others are education to players on illegal hits and consequences, better equipment, empowering refs to throw players out prior to an escalated event, and more focus by media/NHL marketing to fans about what the game is all about- competition within the rules and sportsmanship. Fans also need their perspective realigned in my opinion (as evidenced by the two ignorant Flyers posts above me).

I must not have seen a good angle but it didnt look like he was going for a head shot. however, there is zero respect for players anymore and they need to drop the instigator rule. Run one of my players Im running yours or just beating the crap out of you. Its a deterent. Its a lot better then the crap they have no with suspending people or not suspending people and making it look like they have no idea what they are doing anymore. Also the union will not go after their own due paying client. Unions cant do it. Plain and simple the union is to protect their own no matter what whether they feel its right or not. Like a defence attorney on a murder case where the atorney knows the guy did it but tries to get him free and clear or with a lessor penalty.

Maybe he should be elected to attend the All-Star Game next year. And, the year after that, Stoll could go. Isn't it great how we all support a crack down on stupid play, but then we turn right around, and reward these guys? Look at how long Burt lasted in the league. There is always going to be some GM that thinks that keeping these non-players around is a good thing. It's one thing if the tough guys battle each other, it's another when they go after smaller players, or guys that would rather play than fight. As previously mentioned, get rid of the silly rules that prevent the trolls from accounting for their actions. I am not trying to point fingers, because I am fully aware of how my team supported these guys, but the league as a whole has to work together to get rid of those types of players.
