Jennifer B Cutler: McCarron Centers Galchenyuk & Eller, Will Price & Subban make Team Canada? Michael McCarron gets an opportunity to center Alex Galchenyuk and Lars Eller as the Canadiens face the Anaheim Ducks tonight. As well, Morgan Ellis will make his NHL debut. Will P.K. Subban and/or Carey Price make Team Canada's initial roster for the World Cup? 5 Questions...

1) Will Price and/or Subban make Team Canada’s initial roster?
I think Price will be on it; I am doubting Subban.

2) Will Mike Condon rebound from Monday’s game and keep the Canadiens in the game? Does it matter? He will be a decent backup next season and there is nothing wrong with that being his talent ceiling.

3) How will Galchenyuk-McCarron-Eller perform in their first match together?
I am thinking this will be ugly. McCarron doesn't have the experience defensively and will get chewed up and Eller is clueless inside the offensive zone.

4) Perhaps the better question is how long Therrien’s leash will be this new line? Doubt they make it past the first 20min.

5) Will Charles Hudon or Nikita Scherbak get an opportunity during the next 20 games to prove that they might be part of the Canadiens plans next season?

Hudon should; Schebak is a team-worst minus-18 in 29 appearances with only 11 points. He needs a lot of time to mature.

As always, thanks for the read!

5 Questions For Tonight:

1) Will Price and/or Subban make Team Canada’s initial roster? BOTH make it... Price does not play due to not wanting to risk injury (and having a new born at home)

2) Will Mike Condon rebound from Monday’s game and keep the Canadiens in the game? He'll play better... but Habs are still in trouble tonight.

3) How will Galchenyuk-McCarron-Eller perform in their first match together? OK. Eller will still look lost on the wing.

4) Perhaps the better question is how long Therrien’s leash will be this new line? Short... as always. One mistake and this is their last game together... although... considering MT doesn't give a (frank) anymore (cause... he's gonna be fired in 20 games), maybe he lets them ride it out.

5) Will Charles Hudon or Nikita Scherbak get an opportunity during the next 20 games to prove that they might be part of the Canadiens plans next season? Hudon likely will, Scherbak likely wont.

The main reason Subban will be left off is because of his risk reward combo. He takes risks too often and makes mistakes too often. Talented yes. If Canada could name 10 dmen he would probably be there. But as it stands you take sure things ahead of him. I take Doughty, Weber, Vlasic, Keith, Pietrangelo, Seabrook all before him and Burns, Bouwmeester, Giordano, Letang, and Brodie all in the same conversation as him. I'm probably missing a couple there too.

That's complete nonsense. The idea that Subban couldn't tone down his risky style a bit is asinine. Babcock loves to play keep away and few do it better than Subban. Your assertion that Subban is barely a top 20 defender in the NHL just means that you don't watch him play and your opinion is one that was given to you. Subban's omission has nothing to do with his play and everything to do with his personality. The folks at Hockey Canada like their players the way weirdoh likes his hookers: without a pulse. He's not their cup of tea.

If you're going to be an overt racist you could at least be funny. That said I hope you get run over by a bus and all that's left of you is what can be hosed off the pavement.

Personality is the problem I think.

When you look at the team they named it's a pretty serious bunch on the ice. You don't see a lot of smiles from Toews, Crosby, Getzlaf, Tavares etc.

I also doesn't help that the 4 D they named were stalwarts on maybe the best defensive team in Olympic history.

The fact that Subban leads the NHL in give aways, by 24, may say something other than your assertion that few keep possession of the puck better than PK. And by asking him to tone down his riskiest you are asking him to change his game. So your not getting the full PK effect. I think they want to bring players who don't have to change their game. PK is a turnover machine pure and simple. Extremely skilled and talented. Known to take some risks and turns the puck over. To TC brass I think the risk out weighs the reward.

Playing with this offense group of non-creative players : he has to take risks. Nobody is creative (else than Galchenyuk) offensively. No worries, he wouldn't have to do so much with the offense group on a Canada team.

Also, his giveaways / minutes of puck possession ratio is under every other Mtl defenseman.

Subban would absolutely be in my top 6.

What makes it racist ? Are you saying PK can't endorse Potato Chips because it's somehow racist.

Actually he has the highest turnover ratio of the teams defencemen. Subban 1TO every 16.49 played. Markov 1TO every 20.57. Emelin 1 every 17.75. Petry 1 every 21.78. Gilbert 1 every 19.45. Beaulieu 1 every 26.73.

Sure maybe he does need to take extra risk being one of the few offensive weapons on the team. And yes he is a top defenceman, but not worthy of a top 7 spot on team Canada IMO. Close but not quite. Maybe their top brass will disagree with me come September.
