I think you are right in suggesting the tank part of the season is just beginning. You need weak goaltending to be a serious contender in the lottery sweeps and Ottawa is succeeding most beautifully.

Competitive priority should be in Belleville and setting up for a Calder Cup run. I am guessing that Pinto and Bernard-Docker join the baby Sens for the last month of the regular season. Rumour has it that Lassi Thomson will be in Belleville upon completion of the WJC.

Good bet Ottawa will pick top 5 and a top 10 in the June draft. In total, Sens have 5 top 50 picks in a very strong draft. No doubt, more picks (or equivalent prospects) will be added before trade deadline.

Huge thumbs up for Dorion and patience.

Unimportant little known fact: Wayne Grotski in 1977-78 had 12 goals and 19 assists playing for the Edmonton Crusaders of the AHL. I believe he also played some games for Spruce Grove.

The goaltending was overachieving for much of the season, and it appears to be regressing to the mean as we were expecting.

Any word on where Balcers will play in the lineup tonight?

I think SJ is going to regress back towards the lower middle of the standings. They are not a bottom 5 team. But if that picks ends up close to #10 it would be much better than the Sens could have hoped for when they made the Karlsson trade.

I think there is a legit chance any of these guys get moved by the deadline: Anderson, Hainsey, Boro, DeMelo, Tierney, Ennis, Anisimov, Pageau and maybe Duclair.

While I think any of them 'could' be moved it is likely only 3-5 will. But depending on who moves on it will bring more picks/prospects and might further "help" the tank this season.

The Sens can't control how SJ does for that pick, but they do have control over their roster to affect the positioning of their own pick.

He was with Anisimov and Boedker at yesterday's practice, but I have to imagine that's not where things will land come game time.

Batherson called up with reports that Duclair isn't good to go tonight.

Good game, loved the head butt by Colin White.

Very happy with the result.

Want to see the Sens stay close, but hope they wait until next year before they actually start regularly winning close games.

on another note, i think the Sens should retire the #5.......don't hang it from the rafters, just burn the (frank)ing number and don't let anyone wear it......anyone who puts that number on instantly turns to (or remains) poop.

reilly was AWFUL in that game.......making Cody Ceci and Brian Lee proud

Yep, about all you could ask for. They looked good and didn't give up any points. San Jose won (again) but the teams ahead of them did too, some in 3 point game.s

Bermard-Docker will be wearing #5 for Canada tomorrow afternoon.
