Of course not - that is the easiest way to defend not trading him. They wont tell the public what it would take to move TK so the public never knows what the team wanted. They probably are expecting an offer that the Sabres got for eichel when it should be more along the lines what they got Giroux - corduroy
100%. should get less than CC if he is traded at the deadline.
they flat out missed the boat to moving him to a team for 2 playoff runs and retain 50%. |

dude, the first part of the post you responded to is UNDERSTANDABLE, tho i would give poop....
Patrick can't be thrown out. It's his biggest swing and miss. I was stoked at the time but....it's a miss.
Also JOB takes it all away - Wingdestroyer
It is a miss but how can you blame Hextall? He was widely considered a top pick in the draft and a future #1 NHL center. It's hindsight to say he should've taken Makar. Sakic was pissed when the guy he wanted got taken and he had to settle for Makar. Patrick and his physical and mental issues were simply bad luck. Its not as if he made a horrendous choice at the time or used bad judgement.

or not being smart enough to sell off and rebuild as you were not gonna win that core as it wasnt good enough. - hello it's me 2050
I agree. The core was already past its prime when Hextall came aboard. Should've been a fire sale. |

I agree with you though. The executives would've never allowed that even if Hextall wanted to do that. Which I don't know if he did or not. They won't allow it now.

That's false. In 5 draft years, Hextall drafted 12 NHL players including 2 starting level goaltenders, a top line winger, various 2nd line players and two top 4 defenseman. What was missing that brings the drafting down was adding an elite player. In all aspects, Hextall left the team in a better spot than when he started. - MJL
was only a matter of tie before you start slobbering all over you dad. He was a average at best drafter. so in 5 drafts you say 12 nhl level players. Is that supposed to knock peoples socks off? what is the criteria you are using to get the 12 players?
No 1 starting level goalie. Jury is still out on Sam.
What brings is drafting down is the wiffs he had in the 1st and 2nd3rd round. |

calm down. i don't think its an gregarious miscalculation. he wasnt' STUPID for doing it.
but honestly, as a boss there are a million things that, unfortunately, at the end of the day it's your fault. i legit wasn't following the draft as closely at that time, so i really couldn't tell you. you can say Bob Clarke is just throwing him under the bus (saying they actually wanted Hiskanen....which, yeah). BUT, if there was chatter for another pick and you pick the wrong one. at the end of the day you made the call.
the Rubstov and JOB picks are putird

how can you blame him? easily he had other options did he not. He was dead set on Patrick, tunnel vision. He was taking him even if the 1st pick.
who is the clown that brought up saint ronnie today? Now you will have his son cliff defending him all day.

I know folks luv to hate on Marchand, but that dude is gonna be in the HOF someday. What a performance by him last night against the Laffs! Now that's a captain! Why can't we have nice things? - Phillywhiteout
Marchand is awesome. He fought and willed that team to victory last night. The guy is a winner and will do what it takes to win. Plays on the edge but boy he is an amazing competitor |

The Leafs are a complete embarrassment of a hockey team. How does a PP with Tavares, Matthews, Marner and Reilly go 0-5? Marner is completely invisible in this series so far. Reilly is an unmitigated disaster defensively. The Leafs best players are Domi and Bertuzzi, and that is not going to get it done. - jd250
Is Rocky Thompson their PP coach too? |

100%, if you are going rebuild (trading schenn and hartnell) why keep G and Jake? His plan vs his actions made no sense. Probably wouldve been better trading G and Jake, and keeping schenn and hartnell. Shouldve traded the whole lot

This is what happens to your prospect pool when you waste a 1st and two 2nds on an overpaid, injury prone 3rd pairing dman like Ristolainen. - Feanor
That move was ill-advised back then, and hasn’t aged well at all. Fletcher, the gift that keeps on giving year after year |

Giroux was 26 and Voracek was 25.
Tippett is 25 now, and the soon to be extended Konecny is 27. |

If that were on the table and DB doesn't take that trade we are in trouble. I feel like the Flyers always overvalue their own players. *IF there was a 1st rounder offered for Laughton (as has been said) and they didn't take it I have little faith. There is not a player on the roster today that I would not consider trading in the right deal.
I am with you. Not confident this "New Era" is any different. Love to be wrong but I have not been impressed with the new fornt office. - Flyfly
It’s been widely reported a 1st was on table for Laughton. Therefore it is fact.

They NEED to trade TK. I’d love to hear trade proposals. I bet I like almost all of them. Oddly though, not the one previously proposed here today 🤣 |
