Rangers go “Old-time Newsy” and heighten talks for JT Miller… |

There is no shortage of speculation surrounding the Jacob Trouba trade and the Rangers signing Igor Sheshterkin…..Why would a captain of a competitive contender accept a trade to a team likely out of the playoffs and 3,000 miles away?
The reality appears to be Ducks traded for what they consider the best deadline asset in the league and assured Troouba that he would be moved to a contender, quite possibly in the east.
In a classic case of irony, that team could be the Penguins. There is absolutely no reason for the ducks to take on all the money, not get another asset, and make this deal unless they know they can get a great asset from another team for Jacob. No reason at all. It’s no secret Trouba was very upset with all the trade rumors that have been happening over the last year. It is definitely not a way to treat a captain in the NHL.
The extension Igor Shehsterkin is interesting as well, and in many ways reminded me of the old days as when teams would follow up bad news immediately with good news. This extension wasn’t signed because they moved Jacob Trouba as it doesn’t take affect until next year so the timing felt very old newsy…. years ago, when newspapers existed, companies or teams would always put out bad news on Friday around 5 o’clock so that the weekend would pass before anyone really wrote about it or talked about it.
The Rangers clearly moved Trouba to get in fully on JT Miller who has fallen out a favor in the Vancouver big time after confrontations with Rick Tocchet.
No, the Rangers are not done. I am still hearing Kappo Kakko, a prospect and a pick to Vancouver…
