Really strong strong signing..

I know I’m probably the biggest Zach Aston-Reese fan in the NHL but I think this kid is really special actually. I honestly think that he fills a role better than almost anyone else fills his sort of role.

Ever since I watched him as a Penguin, I’ve been impressed with his ability to play fast, with his skill level, and his ability to play up and down the lineup with skilled players or without skilled players. Not a ton of players in the league who can fit that mold. I know he’s bounced around a lot and every year is in a tryout situation, so I’m happy that he is now looking at a extension for next year for over $750,000. Really a super smart signing by the Columbus Blue Jackets.

I predict his next contract will be much higher.

More to come, especially on the Rangers, who are starting to play better, but are still getting a lot of pressure to make a big move. There are some teams in the league who you can hear a lot of rumors about and the Rangers are one of them. But one of the more interesting things about the Rangers is that when they go quiet on the rumor front it usually means they’re up to something big, or about to pull off something.
