This morning the Islanders announced Anthony Duclair is taking an indefinite leave of absence from the team…Duclair has had a tough season and appears to have never fully recovered from an early season injury. But this break does not appear to have anything to do with his health.

Duclair is in the first year of a new contract that will pay him $3.5M for this year and three more years. His stats this year, 7-4-11 in 44 games is far below what the Isles were expecting….His relationship with Roy has been strained as during this playoff race Duclair has seen barely 4th line minutes.….and was saw even less ice-time last game…

However, the breaking point appears to have come when really love the energy in the crowd Roy took it too far in his presser saying, “He was god-awful. He had a bad game. That’s why I didn’t play him a lot. And he’s lucky to be in the lineup.”

Roy really went to bat for Duclair in the offseason and that has no doubt added to his frustration….
