It isn't going to happen immediately, but I have it from three sources now that the Flyers have interest in acquiring Dustin Byfuglien from Winnipeg. They like his size, his ability to play defense or forward and his scoring touch. The Flyers spent this last summer trying to get a replacement for Chris Pronger with an offer out to Ryan Suter and by signing an offer sheet for Shea Weber. They were so lacking for size and strength on the D-end that they dealt JVR for Luke Schenn...a trade on which many feel the Flyers lost, but to be honest it was a trade they absolutely HAD to make.
Hockeybuzz's Tim Panaccio reports that the Flyers have acquired Simon Gagne from the LA Kings for a conditional 4th round pick and in another deal late this afternoon, the Eastern Conference leading Montreal Canadiens swapped winger Erik Cole to Dallas for former Hab Michael Ryder, along with a third round pick.
