As you could have most likely guessed from the blog title, this will be my last blog here on Hockeybuzz. I wasn't sure how to approach such a thing, stating the cliche phrase, "It's not you, it's me," certainly comes to mind.
After watching the Rangers lose Game 7, the first words out of my mouth was,
Least I don't have to write anymore," it was at this point I knew there was a severe problem. I was seeing writing each blog as a nagging chore rather than a passion. Often times throughout the season I sat down to write and realized I had nothing useful to offer. Was it burn out, general laziness or just being disfranchised with the team I was following? I'm still not sure.
What I am sure about is that it's time to move on after two seasons writing. My biggest pleasure of doing this was reading the comments and discussions that would ensue after I posted the blogs and sometimes that was the only thing that kept me going especially at the tail end of this season.
First and foremost I want to thank Eklund for giving me the opportunity to do this. This experience has certainly allowed me to grow as a writer and gave me a meaty sized audience to spout my ramblings to. Eklund was the perfect boss; he left me alone to do my thing and never once stepped and said, "Hey you can't do that!" He gave me the space and time to operate and I will always be thankful for that.
So what now? Where do we go from here?? One thing is for certain and that is Eklund will get a top notched blogger, (who will actually post frequent blogs) in here to carry on the good work. I will most certainly hang around and say hello and check it out, I implore all of you to do the same.
As for yours truly, I will be moving to a much smaller forum and helping my esteemed fishstick blogging brother with his endeavor. He's been running islandersindepedent .com with some success. Now I know what you are thinking… and no, I would never write for a site called Islanders anything other than a derogatory word slotted after it. I would sooner take a leisurely swim in a septic tank. We will be rolling out rangersindependent .com as a sister site and that's where I will be along with a selection of other writers. This way I can write a blog or two a week and not feel so guilty about it.
Thank you all so much for the time and feedback you have given me over the last two seasons.
Sincerely,
Scott Gallof
