Ex-Stars surface elsewhere and News Corp in on Stars |

The past few days have been fairly busy for Stars-related news.
Unfortunately none of it benefits the Stars on the ice.
Marty Turco has signed with the Chicago Blackhawks to replace Stanley Cup winning goaltender Antti Niemi who the Blackhawks allowed to become a UFA after his arbitration hearing. Which Turco will the Hawks get next season. Marty was great in the second half of last season after Kari Lehtonen made his way to Dallas to take playing time away, but the two and a half years before that Marty was either mediocre or well below replacement level. At about a million a season he could end up being a bargain.
The Detroit Free Press is reporting that Mike Modano will sign with the Detroit Red Wings on Thursday. Mike Heika confirmed this via text with Mike who is playing golf in Scotland at the moment. This is wrong on many levels, but Mike is obviously free to do what he wants. If he wants one last shot at the Cup how can anyone deny him that? Hopefully he finds what he’s looking for, and can pick a number in a timely manner. After 20 years of wearing number 9 it might take some time.
In ownership news, News Corp has entered the fray. The parent company of Fox has apparently entered the clusterf**k that is Hicks Sports Group franchise sales. As of two days ago they attempted to get into the auction of the Texas Rangers, but apparently they have since dropped out. Reports indicate that they are still in on the Stars sale process. The logic behind getting into the process is sound. They appear to be attempting to make sure the Stars and Rangers remain on Fox Sports Southwest, an outcome which is in doubt if Mark Cubans group wins.

Now it’s time for some maintenance. I’ve created an archive of pieces I’ve written. You will have easy access to throw anything I’ve written back in my face at a moment’s notice. I will post a link to the archive at the bottom of everything I write. The link is

Also, I’ve decided to enter the modern media-ish era. I have a twitter account now. Feel free to follow me. The link is https://twitter.com/joshhockeybuzz . I have no idea how many people will follow me, if any. I do know that whether there are two or two hundred of you, you will get your money’s worth out of following me. Take that for what it’s worth.
