A Goalie, a shutout and a win.

Only a few days ago I said this squad had lost all faith in Leclaire and Elliott, and for this team to start winning again, they'd need regain faith in there goalie.

I was somewhat wrong, they just needed to call-up Mike Brodeur again, who is now 2-0 for the Sens this season, including the shutout tonight.

It was a very noticeable change in team effort by the Senators tonight. The team was forechecking hard, the defence were taking numerous chances and Mike Brodeur stood on his head.

From start to finish the Sens did all of the little things they hadn't been doing, and guys who had been fading reappeared tonight.

Kovalev was amazing tonight despite not scoring a goal. He was actually back-checking and was dominant in the Rangers zone every chance he got.

Fisher looked re-energized and was dangerous numerous times, it sucks he didn’t break his drought but he is still dangerous and giving his teammates space to work.

While the supporting cast of Regin, Shannon, Neil, Smith and Foligno were also making big plays, both defensively and offensively.

The bigger change tonight was just how good the defence were. A-Train/Phillips went back to the effective shutdown pair we love. Karlsson had another one of his 'standout' games, where his potential comes out in full force, out manoeuvring players, continually saving the play by keeping the puck onside and making creative plays.

Campoli and Picard had better games, both went back to playing the type of games we expect out of them, and the hard work paid off as Campoli picked up the game-winner.

But in the end, the Sens were destined to live and die by Mike Brodeur's play, and when it came down to it, Brodeur was just as great a King Lundy. (Who looked like he was going to kill his team.)

You can expect to see Mike Brodeur start the next couple games based off of his performance.
